  1. Hi there South Chick My son lives in Berwick and it's a great area. good schools, train station and a very friendly community..I love the whole area, close to the Dandenong Ranges which is very beautiful, Pakenham not too far away either, a big mall at Narre Warren for everything ..I absolutely love Melbourne ...we are currently in Sydney which is lovely but not very affordable, hoping to move to Melbourne or Brisbane
  2. Hi Everyone Just wondering what the area's of Varsity Lakes and Robina are like to live in Good or bad reports please
  3. Thanks for your advice, what area's could you recommend, we can be anywhere, as my husband works all over the country, we are in our early fifties, we love the beach, cafe's and restaurants. We also don't have a huge budget to spend up to about 450k but we don't want apartment living
  4. Hey Everyone Anybody know anything about the above area's, we are looking at house and land packages..Any advice please good or bad
  5. Well here is a positive story Love Brisbane, it's awesome... I really don't know where people have given you the impression of being stuck in the 1970's, it's a beautiful city, great shopping, lovely restaurants and bar's and near to some of the world's most beautiful beaches, what more can you ask for. Stay away from negative thought's from people, it just drags you down, and makes you doubt your own views. Good luck with everything
  6. Hello Birch4 My husband is an electrician and we are from Yorkshire originally but have lived in NZ for the last 13 years until coming to OZ 2 years ago, my husbands NZ electrical licence allowed him to get his full licence's here in OZ, it's a very straight forward procedure from NZ. But can I just say when we first moved to NZ in order to get his NZ electrical licence he had to go to night school to do a course (yes Night School and $3,000 later, which we were not told about), just so that you are aware... We are also moving to the North Lakes soon, private message us if you need anymore info Good luck with everything, it's a mind field at times

    Berwick

I'm going to be living in Berwick, anyone on here keen to meet up for a coffee or wine let me know I will be working in the city but have a day off in the week and I don't work weekends
  8. hi everyone I start my new job in Collingwood in a few weeks and we are looking to buy a house, which area's will be good maximum price is 500k Cheers for now
  9. Hey Everyone When I visit my son who lives in Berwick I have used a hairdresser's called Toma's, they are on the same street which leads down to the train station and opposite the Indian Takeaway (in the old court building)...Also I have used one in Eltham as this is where my friend lives, its the one near that book shop/café just at the back of an arcade..Hope this helps, can recommend both places
  10. Thank you for that rosiew, that's awesome to have that information..Many Thanks
  11. Hi Yes I do remember and thank you for your message, I seem to remember you are on the Peninsular, is that right?? I am not going to have a car to start with are you walking distance to the train station..Everywhere I have looked at is so expensive for short term or they want a 12 month lease, I don't want to do that really..The dates could probably work for me, I would just have to stay with my son for a couple of weeks, but he has flat mates, so not ideal really..Anyway what do you charge again?? Can I confirm with you tomorrow... I am almost at the point of heading back to NZ, as I have had enough, but I know deep down that it will be the wrong decision
  12. And another dilemma I have is getting short term accommodation at a reasonable price, I start my new job in Collingwood in a week and still can't find anything reasonable without having to sign a 12 month lease and I don't want to do that really...Any suggestions anyone, I am getting pretty desparate
  13. Thanks Petals Do you know if Sunbury has a train station, or plans to have one if not??? What do you know about the area in general, we like peace and quiet, a little bit country, with main facilities, and were not fussed about eating out heaps, we would go into the city maybe once a month or so Cheers for now
  14. Suzukiscottie Thanks for your reply, yes I am finding the whole thing rather stressful too be honest...Doreen seems to have quite a lot of local shops there, and I guess will get better as time goes on, not too far to Eltham which is nice. We are currently living in Sydney and I can't wait to leave this place, beautiful but damn expensive. I have seriously thought about not accepting the job and moving to Brisbane which is so much cheaper then Melbourne and Sydney
  15. hey everyone I was asking the other week about Victoria vs Queensland..Anyway spent last week in Melbourne (son lives there), I have been offered a job in Melbourne (Collingwood area). Myself and hubby just so shocked by the house prices, it's almost unaffordable, even earning good money to buy a house in a nice area. I almost at the point to turn down the job and go to Brisbane where it is cheaper to buy a home. We have looked at places like Doreen, Mernda..no train station there as yet. However been told that Mernda is opening soon, still bloody expensive and still a commute to work. We are in our late fourties both of us so don't want to take on a massive mortgage now, we can afford up to around $460,000 k, and that's probably the max too be honest.. Really don't know what to do Any suggestions
