  1. Hi, We moved to Australia 2 years ago and my eldest daughter moved into Grade 4. At the time I was considering Grade 3 or Grade 4 for her. We are now moving to a different area of Melbourne and my daughter is due to start in the new school in January. She is due to start in Grade 6 but I am considering her repeating Grade 5 in the new school as I feel she wouldnt be ready to start in High School in 12 months. She has just turned 11. In Europe she wouldnt be starting secondary school until September 2017 whereas here it would be January 2017. 9 months earlier is a long time at that age. Just wondering has anyone else done that? Or what age do most kids start High School here? Just thought with the change of school it might be a good idea to repeat a year, so she has 2 years in the new primary school before changing school again to High School. Any feedback would be great for anyone else who has moved to Australia and experienced this? Thanks.
  2. Hi Sarah. We havent moved to Mornington yet but hope to do so in the next few months. Hoping to take a look at Bentons and Osborne primary schools. I will let you know which school we decide on and which area. When are you hoping to move? Have you been in contact with any of the schools yet? It looks like a beautiful area.
  3. Hi, We are moving to Mornington soon and just wondering does anyone have children in either Bentons or Osborne prmary schools and just wondering what these schools are like, or any other primary schools in Mornington? Thanks.
  4. Hi. Thanks for that feedback. Yeah Mornington Secondary College looks good. Its the primary school that seems to be hardest to decide on. Do you have any advice on Bentons or Osborne prmary schools
  5. Hi Michael. Thanks for that. What primary are your kids in? Is it Bentons or Osborne? How are you finding it? And how are you finding the high school? How do they compare to schools back home? Thanks.
  6. Thanks again for that Tina. I will have a look at these websites. Think we will be doing a lot of driving and looking around this long weekend! Thanks for all your help.
  7. Thanks a mill for that. I will look at the website. We had actually driven to Berwick first on saturday and stopped to have a look around as we heard it was a good area too. All the coffee shops seemed to be closed when we got there so didnt really get to talk to any of the locals. This weekend is a long weekend so we will have a look around again. Thanks for all the info.
  8. Thanks for that. Just had a look at their website and it looks pretty good. Do you know which state High Schools in Mornington would be best. Thanks for your help.
  9. Hi, We have driven around again today, and looked at Mordialloc and Mornington. We got out and walked around both places and have to say we liked the feel of Mornington best. There just seemed a better feel to it, and there isnt a big busy road driving right through the centre of it. So the next thing is to look at where/where not to rent and which state primary and state High Schools are the best in Mornington. Thanks for all your feedback and any other advice would be greatly appreciated. My husband would be driving to Footscray/CBD every single day (has to have the car for work) so just wondering what the drive to Footscray/CBD is like everyday and what time would you have to leave Morninhgton to drive in at to be there for 9am. As I said he needs the car for work, so wouldnt be able to take the train. Any help/suggestions would be great. Thanks.
  10. Hi, I am new to this forum and we are thinking of moving to Mornington or Mount Martha. I just see that you live in Mount Martha. I am just wondering what it is like to live in and what are the primary and High Schools like there, if you know. Any information or help would be great. Thanks. We have 3 children, 6, 8 and 10. Thanks
  11. Hi, I am new to this forum and just saw this thread. We are thinking of moving to the Mornington/Mount Martha/Mount Eliza area. We have 3 children, aged 6, 8 and 10. We are looking for a good area to live in with a good primary and High School (good state schools if possible). Our eldest daughter will be heading to High School in a year and a half so we now want to move to a good area with a good High School and so she can meet new friends in Grade 6 before she heads to the local High School. Any help/info on what these areas are like to live/rent in and what the schools (primary and High School) are like in these areas, would be greatly appreciated. We are only just starting to look at these areas now to move to, so haven't decided which one would be best for a family? Any help would be great. Thanks.
  12. Hi, I am new to this forum. We are thinking of moving to the Mornington/Mount Martha/Mount Eliza area. We have 3 children, aged 6, 8 and 10, and are looking to move to a good area for a family, with good state schools, primary and secondary. Our 10 year old daughter will start in High School in a year and a half so we want to move into an area where there is a good primary and secondary school. Any help with info/experience in the school/area would be very much appreciated.
