  1. Hi Guys! I am NOT giving up trying to become a teacher out in Oz hahahaha. So, after weighing up all my options which, at the moment are absolutely zero, having only a three year degree in Primary Education (aged 3-11). I was wondering, does anyone know if there are courses that I would be able to enrol on once I got to Oz that would put me up to the four years? So maybe an AUS version of the PGCE? After years and years of hard work and pure determination of getting on the uni course in the first place and battling hard through the whole degree, I will be damned if i leave that fight now. I know its a hard road and a pretty tough working environment over there to be able to get into teaching in the first place but hey, nothing worthwhile comes easy in life. So, please, if anyone knows of any courses that I will be able to look into further that would help then any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much in advance x Sarah x
  2. reading all your posts is giving me a headache ha ha ha My story so far.........i am in the process of starting my final year of my 3 year degree in primary education which covers 3-11yrs. My year 1 placement was inn Reception, Year 2 placement was in Year 2 and this coming year i will be in Nursery. I wont be the main applicant on the visa, my husband is an airconditioning and refrigeration engineer so thats is department haha. im worrying that i wont be able to work when out in australia. We havenet decided on an area yet although the hubby knows someone in Sydney with an aircon business and i like the looks of perth (cant get further away from each other ha ha!) I love working with kids, its my real passion but to be honest the teaching isnt the be all and end all. So, in a nutshell, Im just wanting advice i suppose from people who already know. ........Without going through AITSL, would a primary position be even remotely possible depending on the state? ........Am i better trying to get a PGCE before coming out there? ........Can you become a supply teacher on a three year degree? - I have three young children whom need their mummy to help them settle so this would definitely be a viable option for me to start with anyway ........Are there any other jobs that people can think of that I could possibly look at in a school? Does Australia have teaching assistants or example? Like I said, the role of the teacher isnt the be all and end all but a) I want to work with kids and b) i REALLY dont want to be almost £30,000 in student debt for no reason by the end of this year hahaha Im so sorry to ask all these questions as, having read all your messages, I can see that you are all majorly busy at the moment trying to secure your own visas/jobs etc. Im right at the start of my emigration journey and just want to know as much as I can before we set off on our new amazing journey!! Thanks so much in advance xx
  3. congratulations xxxx and hope the move goes ok
  4. I just wondered if there were any air conditioning engineers on this forum? Either ones that are already in Australia or already going through the visa process? Would just be nice to get a 'real' persons perspective rather than the websites I keep trawling Thanks in advance x
  5. My husband and I are looking into moving to Australia in about three years. Once i have finished a degree over here in the UK and we have some money behind us. Does anybody have personal experience of migration companies that they have used and would recommend? Also does anybody know of any seminars/expos that are happening in the future, preferably in the North of the UK. Leeds, Manchester etc? I know that we arent moving any time soon but from reading on here, the more background info we receive the easier the transition. Many thanks x
  6. Brilliant, thankyou x and enjoy Australia x hope to get there one day........
  7. Vandeux, can I please ask what quals you have that enabled you to get the job? x And congratulations!!
  8. Netts firstly, congratulations!!!!!!! Amazing well done. Secondly, may I ask what quals you had in the UK that enabled you to apply for the job in Oz? Thanks in advance x
  9. ill keep an eye on this thread too if thats ok x My husband is exactly the same. Looking into what quals he needs to continue air con engineering in Oz. He has almost 20years experience but dont want to get out there to find that its now worth anything xx Good luck with everything xx
  10. Evening all, My husband and I are looking into emigrating in the next few years. We are planning on hiring an emigration lawyer who im guessing will be able to answer these questions but just wondering if anyone on here had an idea also. My husband is an air conditioning engineer with 16 years experience so I guess my questions are...... a) Is there any particular area of Australia we should be looking at employment wise and...... b) What are the qualification he needs to make sure hes got up to date here in the UK and what will he have to do over in Oz? Thanks in advance x
  11. Ill be keeping an eye on this thread as I would like to know too x Im am a year away from qualifying with my BA hons degree then to complete my NQT year so would also be interested in how easy it is to get a job over there when the time comes.......after ive got some paid teaching hours under my belt! Good luck in your search xx
  12. Hi, thankyou for the reply x Yes i am just about to go into the final year of my degree and then planning on completing my NQT year. Was looking at the SOL list? And my husbands career is on it but primary teacher isnt. I did notice that the 'pre-primary' teacher was there though which is aged 3-5 so basically Early Years here of which my degree covers. Thats the only reason for the wait. Me to finish the last of my three years at uni then my full working year so i can fully qualify. That and the fact that we need to save like crazy!?!
