  1. Hi Sayaka, I came out on a 190 visa - mainly because I am dyslexic and didn't gets the points needed on the ILETS and knew I wanted to come to SA so was easier (and cheaper) to get the points that way instead of resetting the test. I did it all by myself. I went to a 'down under live' day and was really annoyed with the rubbish that agents were telling me as I knew more then them about my options! Everything is on the website, and you still have to fill all the same forms out - I don't understand what you pay the agent to do! It's a very long process (with lots of waiting) and I made mistakes but got us here in the 1 year frame I gave myself! I am more than happy to help you if I can! People on here helped me so now it's my turn!
  2. Hi guys, Quick update - had the telephone interview this morning. It was only for 20 minutes and there was lots of information about the company given before I was asked anything. I was asked the following; - When do you arrive? - How far along with the teacher registration process are you? - Do you have any holidays booked? -What do you think about the company? -Describle a time you have done curriculum programming based on a child's interest? -How do you value parents and families? -How do you make children feel respected and cared for? -What is your pay expectation? That was it! I now have a practical assessment based on photographs of a blank setting and I have to write bullet points on how I would improve it, which seems pretty straight forward. If successful on that, I will be given a face to face interview when I arrive in 2 weeks. Compared to teaching job interviews I have had here, this wasn't half as scary or intimidating! Feeling slightly more hopefully
  3. Thanks so much Roxy Roo! I really appreciate the heads up! I feel so much better about it now that I have a idea what they might ask. Yeah, its a telephone interview as we don't get to Oz until 9th August. Its the first job Ive applied for so suited I have even got an interview! Not expecting to get it (Im not that jammy to land the first job I apply for) but looking forward to getting into the interview mindset and get the first one over with! I will let you know how it goes xx
  4. Hi RoxyRoo, I come seeking advice again! I have a telephone interview for a Teacher post in a Goodstart setting next week and was wondering if you could give me some pointers on things you have been asked in the past. Thanks x
  5. Thanks so much, these were the answers I was hoping for! You have made me feel more positive towards applying for jobs too. Just need my visa to be granted then I can start getting looking properly. This waiting game is tortuous. X
  6. Hi RoxyRoo, I have just had my qualification assessed by ACECQA as ECT and have sent off my documents now to gain teacher registration. In the UK I work as a Nursery Teacher so get the best of both worlds with the school holidays and age group. Im looking at jobs and most are in daycare setting. I was just wondering what the pay is like compared to school? Most of the centres seem to be G8 or Goodstart - do you know if one company is better than the other or are they similar? Thanks xx Thanks x
  7. Fingers crossed for you! Yes, I have just sent off to get my qualifications assessed (again) and then to register we have to first complete a safeguarding course in person in South Australia so won't be able to register until we are there. As soon as we get our visa, we will book the flights and the course for the same week we arrive. It's such a long process, it better be worth it! ☺
  8. It's been a long road! AITSL finally assessed in March, then waited for SA state sponsorship with came through beginning of April. (Im dyslexic and i just could not get 8 in the writing to go for the 189, 7.5 each time!) We applied on the 4th May uploaded everything so hopefully be here by August. I sent everything I sent to AITSL to ACECQA and it passes straight away. Luckily my first degree I did had 30 days 0-2 then my pgce I had 10 days. I was surprised that it went through as simple as it did only toon 3 weeks, compared to 8 months for AITSL! X
  9. Quick update. I have managed to get a successful Acecqa assessment for ECT with the combination of my first degree and pgce. Now just need the visa to be granted!
  10. Since I last posted I have received my 189 visa grant (woohoo!!!), handed in my notice at my current job and signed up with a supply agency who have already found me a PPA cover role, 3 days a week which is exactly what I was looking for. Only just just seen this! Email notification must of gone to junk inbox. Huge congratulations, I'm suited for you! Bet that made Xmas even better! When are you thinking of making the move? And good news on the job over here too! So happy for you My AITLS update- they contacted me on the 11th dec requesting more information from university about my placements, so was a mad rush to get it all before everyone broke up for Xmas. Sent off on the 15th dec and could see on Royal Mail it had arrived on the 22nd but they must of been shut for 2 weeks over Xmas, as only just got an email saying they have it. What is more annoying this email says my 10 week window starts from now! When I am on week 8 of waiting. I'm so fed up of waiting. This is only the first hurdle and we started this the beginning of June! Starting to panic about timescales now. But your journey does give me hope! Xx
  11. I know - I hope it does! Will be gutted to pay and wait all that time and it fail again! Once is bad enough but twice would be a right kick in the teeth! Hmm...I'm hoping that my first degree with count has I had a placement with the little ones for quite a while and Uni have done a letter with the amount of days on. Did you have to do a Nursery placement at all on your course - We had to do 5 days right at the beginning - if you did, could you jazz it up to sound more than it was? We are the same, Adelaide is our first choice but we will go where we can get work, my husband is a primary teacher (KS2) so we will go where he has better chance of getting a job. They definitely don't make it easy for us! x
  12. Yes, the new application is in so now we are playing the waiting game....again! Eeek! That's so exciting, please keep me posted! Wow, that's a lot, not sure I want to teach that much to pay out all that! I don't think it is that much to get it assessed. My first degree is on there list but its diploma level, and then there is Warick Uni PGCE listed at the same level. Hopefully if you send all the info like you did for AITLS it will pass. I'm lucky that I have found you, as it seem like no one else has gone down this route before! Where abouts in Oz are you planning on moving too? Xx
  13. Selina! Hello! I have spent hours searching this (again) and seems like its only me and you who have these questions! Surely someone else has been in this situation! Please let me know if you have made any progress on this! Looks like everything else is going to plan though
  14. No they just want a letter, confirming position, length of time you have worked there and hours. I think I'll get my head to do it, that does make more sense. Yes it is a relief, I kind of thought if I tell her then I have to go for it. She is already on about coming out and visiting me lol! Have you heard anything or are you just playing the waiting game?
