The shipping company are coming to pack our things up next week, just wondering what on earth to do with myself while they're here ??

My shipping company advised to put 'see inventory' on the part that asked about wooden items.

Thank you all. I will give the shipping company a ring as we're not 100% sure when we'll be able to fly out yet hence can't book any temporary accommodation. Don't have jobs to go to and they need an actual address not a postal address

Our container is going the end of July but we haven't yet booked flights or accommodation in Brisbane. Has anyone else been in the same situation. I need to give the shipping company AN address but don't have one. What address did other people give as we don't have friends or relatives or any temporary accommodation booked yet.

Thanks srg73. Started separating what we want to bring in cases yesterday, easier said than done ! I think I'll just get it on that boat and hold in storage if necessary. I think I'd prefer that than be waiting for it arrive.

Hi Bungo, just wanted to check really that people weren't being quoted a lead time and most were quite a bit later. Its a juggling act really, we don't have jobs to go to so guessing we won't know where we settle until we have jobs, it feels a bit like how long is a piece of string at the moment!

I've been quoted 8 - 10 weeks by the shipping companies for a full container Wales to Brisbane. I can have free storage in the UK but will have to pay should we not be ready for it when it arrives in Brisbane. Trying to weigh up when to actually ship. How long did your container actually' take? I'm just starting to arrange for some quotes, how long do the shipping companies normally take when they come to the house to give you a quote. Trying to fit as many in as possible in one day, Thanks

Thanks Chortlepuss, Struggling to find cotton blend trousers in UK to bring over as the polyester blend I would normally wear will be totally unbearable I'm sure! Have purchased a few dresses I hope will be suitable for work, just hope I can find a job when I get there!

I was thinking exactly the same today, wet and cold I'm used to, wet and humid??!!

I'm currently sorting through my clothes prior to a move and buying some new items of clothing. I understand its very hot and humid during the summer months as well as very wet. Daft question, but what do you wear? Or do you just have huge umbrella's? I'm also looking for some new work clothes, I work in admin and currently wear smart casual, is there a dress code I should be aware of? Many Thanks
