  1. Thanks to all wo have replied. We are hoping to move out first week in Oct so are getting the dogs booked in within the next weeks or so
  2. Thanks Bob! Does PetAir offer this service? One of our dogs is a Romanian rescue so have and rabies work done within the last 6 months so she could come to Britain, has a pet passport etc. I assume she will have to have it done again...our other dog has never had it. Will the fact that she is originally from Romania affect her being able to go to Oz?
  3. This is what the medical recruitment agency are quoting, as I have to get a job offer, sponsorship and then go through the process of gaining registration from the AMC, which is a bit of a drawn out process.
  4. I am starting to look at moving out to Australia as a GP. I am in contact with a great recruitment company to take care of work/visa etc But I need advice from those who have taken dogs out to Oz. I will be going out on a 457 visa and have been advised that currently it is taking 6-8 months to get the visa granted. My concern is, how do I initiate/know when to initiate the start of the vet checks as they are so time specific to their flights according to the Australian government website. It we start now, and the visa takes 8 months, the checks will all be done to early. Likewise if we start 2 months from now and the visa takes 6 months, we'll not get all the checks done before we fly! This is making my head hurt! How do others with animals to transport manage?! Any advice gratefully received!

  6. Thanks. We have a few items we got from the Maldives from our honeymoon  but we can leave the here with relatives I suppose. The bedroom furniture is all wood but is waxed - I LOVE my bed and would like to keep it. All our other furniture is lacquered oak, some it quite new. I have nothing I've carved myself! I have read about Jeyes fluid etc and shoes can be covered in this, and bikes - likely we will not take and get new ones when out in Oz. I assume all the above is ok?
  7. Hope you don't mind me asking - what size container did you need if taking furniture and how much does it cost? Thanks
  8. Morning/evening everyone! I'm hoping that i'll get some reassurance from this posting! We are in the early stages of looking at the possibility of moving to Australia and are looking at the ins and outs and costings etc. I am looking at the costs and what is involved with moving and came across this on the Australian gov website: http://www.agriculture.gov.au/biosecurity/travel/moving-emigrating/items_of_quarantine_concern_in_personal_effects What concerns me is that obviously most of our furniture is made of wood, we have musical instruments, we have loads of photo frames, and mementos from our honeymoon which are made of wood etc etc Does this mean we cannot take these items? Thanks in advance, Rachel :chatterbox:
