  1. Thank you ! In not really after the coast and was also thinking Manly West/West Wynnum. Are they nice and good suburbs ? at least they are not that far from the cbd and same as the coast for when my kids want to play there.
  2. Hi, we moved here 3 months ago and been trying to find a suburb that will suit our family. i like Wynnum and Manly but im after a brand new house (3 bed,2 carpark, and a reasonable garden space) within 450k budget and it is impossible to gef it there. We checked Redcliffe and its ok but quite bad traffic going to the city where my husband works and its already 50 min driving off peak hrs. North Lakes has the kind of estates that im after but it looks far too. . We went to Gold Coast today and realised that suburbs like Rochedale are not that far via M1. If anyone can recommend their suburb and if its better stay North or South of the city. I have 2 small kids and hubby and i work in hospitality so hours can be really hectic. Also good school (catholic preferably) , daycare , safety and train are the priority in my list. Thank you Mae
  3. we moved to townsville dec 2015 straight from the uk and didnt think that we'll like it. asked a few people( foreigners) on our first few daysand was surprised that they loved if there and been there for years. then after a few months we loved it and 10 months from the. day we arrived, we bought our apartment, thats how much we loved townsville unfortunately due to our line of work, we just left last month to come here in brisbane but we kept our apartment as we know we love townsville and we will come back one day. check out riverview apartment, its in roaslea and you'll see why we got one. good luck
  4. hi, which of these suburbs would you say is the safest? and good primary catholic schools? hope you can help me as we are moving at the end of the month and can only search online at the moment but need to decide on the suburb. with in 30 min travel time to stamford hotel. thank you
  5. if you live in bulimba, how is it traveling with the ferry going to stamford hotel? is it better than taking bus/train? how about hawthorne which is just under bulimba? thank u
  6. Hello, we used TSS for coming here on 457 visa but we applied 189 by ourselves as it cost too much
  7. Is Morningside a safe and quiet suburb? i checked the houses and they look nice but read theres quite a lot of noise from aircrafts? thanks
  8. Hi everyone, we are living in Townsville at the moment and will relocate to Brisbane at the end of the month. We have 2 kids (6 months and a 3 year old) so im really after a safe suburb, but hopefully within 30 min travel (commute) time to City Botanic Garden where hubby will work and he may work late at night. We were thinking as ive read in some posts these suburbs... teneriffe, bulimba, kangaroo point, new farm.I would appreciate all your advice/opinion regarding suburbs to choose or to avoid. Also worried about flooding so please if you can share your experiences would be great. PS: Anyone knows about the suburb MORNINGSIDE? the area looks nice but ive read 24hr aircraft noise

    Mortgage

Hi Andy, we are currently in Townsville. i dont know why i was told that we cant due to the type of visa, if its the amount, the banker should have told md that 20% deposit is required as we can give 20% if needed. how do i find a broker? is it expensive? does anybody here know if hsbc can help as our account in the uk is with hsbc. thank you
  11. thank you bungo and very stormy! yes we are looking into getting a pr but was just trying to see the options we have and if we can since we can't get a pr from the employer until my hubby stays 2 years from his job. still trying to see if we can apply for 189 visa. -verystormy it was the NAB who told me i can't without the PR. Can you recommend any broker? thanks
  12. Hi, We moved here in Queensland last December 2014 from the UK. We are currently renting an apartment and since we liked the place, we thought of applying for a mortgage for a unit in the said apartment complex. We have an account with NAB and so i asked if we can qualify for a mortgage if we are on a 457 visa (because we are planning to settle here in Australia) and i was told we can't until we get a PR. Does any of you had the same situation and were you able to get a property while on a work visa. Any advise/help will be greatly appreciated, thank you. 'Mae
