  1. Me and mine did long distance for 11 years!! Circumstances, kids on both sides, jobs, health etc etc. We went the 300 route, and I am please to say it is our 7th wedding anniversary this year. If it's right, it's worth waiting for. All the best
  2. Hi @Andy B Did you get anywhere with this? I have just encountered the same problem!! And not being a high flying stock broker type am completely flummoxed for now......
  3. It sure is a great feeling! Enjoy never having to say an airport goodbye again (unless it's by choice)
  4. My carefully packed/marked box of wooden items was bundled into a big box marked "china & glass" by the shippers. Some boxes were checked by Customs but it seemed pretty random...... I had packed a lot of things into plastic crates, these were then boxes in cardboard as apparently that are likely to crack if stacked too high. No one said it would make a difference in cost though......
  5. Thanks @snifter. Why break the habit of what feels like a lifetime!! Have been keeping things filed away almost since day 1 (11 years ago), firstly because we are romantic old fools and only much later did we realise it was all 'evidence'......! Never seen to have read much about second stage following a 300......searched and searched on here but hardly found anything. Hope this will be helpful to others.
  6. OMG 820 granted this morning!! So very happy and relieved (despite being genuine etc!), it still makes you paranoid!! Please note: this is our 2nd stage after a 300 - if it seems incredibly quick, which it is.....6 weeks and all done.....just have to wait 2 more years for PR
  7. Hope this is allowed, but I just wanted to say thanks to The Little Green Truck (0413 816 045 mandurah@littlegreentruck.com.au) and to Storage Town in Mandurah (0415 425 206 http://www.storagetown.com.au) for sorting me out with the overflow from my container delivery!! They were both fantastic, very reasonable and incredibly patient with a slightly stressed Pom!! And appear to be more careful with my stuff than PSS and Kents have been! Thanks guys.......
  8. LED light bulbs. Oz still seems hooked on low energy ones. If you have yet to convert your lamps to LED, go get them at Poundland or somewhere. And if I'd had the measurements for this house I would have bought up all the random cheap double glazed windows on eBay that I could find!!
  9. Caravan parks are great! Stayed at Prevelly Park south of the Margret River area some years ago, hardly any food in stock, but the best darn bottle shop I've ever seen! Slept in something a bit like a wooden garden shed, with plastic patio furniture inside, cold tap and a baby belling. Bliss......
  10. So.....in my crystal ball I see the excange rate going back to $2 to the £.....and a big lotto win for me!! Ha, I wish....the house money and redundancy cheque went in the bank the day we flew to Oz - about a week or so before the brexit vote! Thought it was all going too well..... Mind you, I did buy some land here when it was 1.47 to the £, so was just hoping things mighr have gone my way, just for a change......?
  11. @Jen44 may be able to add some words of wisdom......
  12. Gumtree, if not too urgent, for boots, and any op-shop (Salvos etc) for hi-vis stuff - there is tons, often new. I'm off to try on a brand new bargain pair of boots, up the road, later today.....
  13. Hi - your sponsor can only do their bit once you have submitted yours. You get a TRN number once you submit, add this to the sponsors application, the immiaccount will link up, then off you go adding documents......and waiting.......?
  14. We have just got our old jardinier through and it is very old and stained. Try and shift the green stuff if you can and give them a good dousing in Jeyes!!
