  1. Thank you FKS. That's very helpful. My kids are 7 and 4. I agree with you about the ridiculousness as the car seats we have in UK are rated one of the safest from safety point of view. But I guess there's nothing much we can do about it. Don't want to take any risk in new country so better to just buy from there.
  2. Thank you for your replies. I have gone through this website in detail and can see that overseas car seats would be illegal in Australia. So my next question is can you suggest some stores to buy car seats on the day of arrival as we would need it straight away. We are going to Melbourne.
  3. Thanks Snifter. So basically you are saying that it's better to leave all the UK car seats here and buy the new ones there. I guess I can at least take the booster seats!
  4. Hi, We have 4 child seats - some with isofix and some without. One has got strap at the back which goes behind the seat and clips onto the anchor. I have read somewhere that Overseas seats are illegal in Australia. Is that true? I am exporting my car so can take the car seats in them. Is there any point in taking them or will I have to buy new anyway?
  5. No i didn't. I got letters from my past employers about my posts for last 10 years. I submitted my tax returns and P60s though. Sent from my SM-A910F using Tapatalk

  10. Woke up today and as usual first thing i checked was my emails- and here it was - emails from immi account. 189 granted.... this s*** is real now... there's so much to do and I'm getting palpitations... Applied on 8th June and got it on 9th August. Sent from my SM-A910F using Tapatalk
  11. Is that when you started the process or when you lodged 457 application? When did your employer apply for nomination?
  12. Yes that is one of my worries but I can always withdraw the 457 as soon as I get my 189. Isn't it? My employer has sponsored in past. That was my query. What does TRN number signify? He is saying that he should be getting this in a day or two. SO where does it put me in time line for 457.
  13. Thank you Cal. As I mentioned I have already applied for 189 but since it's taking a long time I was thinking of applying for 457 as well so that I can go there quicker. Obviously it is entirely possible that my 189 visa might come soon after my 457 application in which case I will be withdrawing my 457. I understand about the freedom with 189 but I am not too worried about it at the moment as I won't be changing job soon anyway and by then my 189 would (hopefully) come. My other friends had their 189 visa in 3 months but that was before the rule changes.
