  1. Hi all, I’ve had a quick skim through here and elsewhere online but can’t seem to find clarification so apologies is this has been asked before. I have booked a shipment with Seven Seas which will depart in around 3.5 weeks time. I know there is currently a 4 week backlog on HMRC processing ToR forms so I am keen to get these wheels in motion ASAP. I’m struggling with the inventory list. We will only be sending back a tool bag with some some handtools and some of my clothing. How specific does the list need to be? I’ve read that people just using the shipping company packing list but we are packing our own boxes and Seven Seas haven’t asked us for specific info as to what is in them. In terms of clothing, does anyone know what is acceptable for the list? Is “Ladies clothing - 20 items all worn and purchased over six months ago” enough or does it need to be more specific and list each individual item, such as “Ladies winter coat, bought in 2017 for A$150”? The issue is I haven’t decided exactly what items of clothing I’like be packing my my suitcase and what I will be shipping. I don’t want to delay the process but also don’t want to risk it getting knocked back after being in a queue for four weeks. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  2. Hi all, Partner and I lodged out citizenship apps by mail a couple weeks back. Does anyone know when payment is taken? Is it when the application is received or when they start to process it? I am guessing we won't hear back for a while yet on the applications (Sydney based) but just wondering if anyone has any info on payment. Cheers.
  3. Does anyone know if sending tea leaves from Australia to the UK is allowed? Would love to send some back home for family from a gorgeous little tea shop I found, but can't find the info online.
  4. Hi Apologies if this has been covered, after a few searches of the site and the rest of the web, I am struggling to find an answer so hoping someone can help. Partner is on a 457 which expires in March 2017. We lodged our 189 application (onshore) in June and my partner is returning to the UK for two weeks on Friday. Is he required to let DIBP know that he is temporarily leaving or do they receive a notification based on his passport? He's not currently on a bridging visa, but I didn't think an onshore application could be approved while one or more of the applicants was offshore. Any advice would be appreciated.
  5. Any guesses on invitation times for General Electrician (341111), EOI 28/05/2016 (today), 60 points - based on previous rounds?

We're waiting on a qualification certificate being issued before submitting the EOI which will hopefully come early next week, but want to submit all documents - Police checks etc. together when the invitation comes through. Does the processing time from application to grant vary depending on the ANZSCO code you are applying for? I gather this will be a busy time of year for getting applications in before 30 June.

  8. Partner has 75 points as an electrician (ANZSCO 341111). Do you know what the invitation dates may be on an EOI submitted next week?
  9. That makes sense. Would it be advantageous to maybe pay an Agent to handle the nomination side of things and we sort out our 186 application ourselves? Just wondering if there would be much price difference in Agent's fees.
  10. Ah thank you. I wasn't sure if they had to apply to become an approved employer for nomination and THEN they had to nominate us, or if they just submit the nomination application. Would I be right in thinking that once the nomination is approved, then we submit our own application? We haven't been for medicals or started gathering Police checks yet as we were told the nomination process takes six months and wanted them to be as up-to-date as possible.
  11. Hi all Just looking for some advice on the 186 nomination process. My partner has been sponsored by his employer (457) for over two years now an we'd like to apply for PR as soon as possible, as I know we are in for a long application process. He was the first employee the company nominated for sponsorship...followed by a few more... and they have never nominated anyone for the 186 visa before. When the company first registered to become an approved employer for 457 nominations, would this have only covered nominations for 457 visas? Meaning, will they have to apply again to become an approved employer to nominate us for a 186 visa? The 457 application was done through a migration agent last time but it was so expensive, we're going to try and go it alone as most people I know have. I'm just not sure what the company has to do in order to apply to be an approved employer for 186 nominations - the other people I know in the same position are working for companies who have nominated employees in the past. Any advice greatly appreciated.
  12. Mine was slightly differed. A 457 subsequent entrant application to my partners visa which was granted last February, but just for Case Officer info etc... Applied 10/6/14 Case Officer allocated 2/07/14 Granted 9/07/14 It probably would have been granted straight away as the case officer requested further information - this turned out to be information I had already submitted - and when I queried it, it took a week to get back to me. Good luck everyone.
  13. Me too, they're main advert on the website is that their cover complies with the requirements for a 457 visa. I had more than 20 items to attached so I have had to group them together - it wouldn't have thought it would have been overlooked as I updated it under the section 'health insurance'. Anyways - many thanks for your help. Fingers crossed this is all they need.
  14. Thanks for your quick reply. The part that threw me was "(relating to your nomination);" - which made me think they maybe had to nominate me seperately, or something!? I just want to be certain so that I can pass the correct info on and they hopefully won't require any further info in relation to this point. Another thing they asked for was proof that I have lawfully enrolled with Medicare/proof of appropriate health cover. I can't at this time find where my letter is that came with my card, is it possible to get a JP to sign a copy of my Medicare card - or will this not suffice? I have health insurance (and I uploaded the confirmation letter with my initial application) but rather than go to the company for a more detailed letter, I thought it would speed things up to do Medicare as I work with a JP. Thanks again
