  1. I know it is an old thread.... My partner and I are living in Sydney after 10 years spent in Perth. We'd never imagined that Perth Christmas was such a quiet one this year. We flew back to Perth for Christmas and new year (My partner is born in Perth, so we went to see family), then we realized how quiet Perth was. Northbridge was dead, Elizabeth Quay was dead .... where people were gone? Weather wasn't help much, so not many people went to beaches I guess. When we lived in Perth, people were busy for shopping (We were living near a big shopping centre) every pre and post Christmas days, but not this year. We actually worry about Perth. Perth is seemed to be a small township in NSW!
  2. I am selling my lovely Micra. It's a 2011 ST-L model, with a 1.5L 4 cylinder engine. The current ST-L model has 1.3L/3 cylinder engine. So she has cute appearance but much more power than current model. It is a regretful sale as I'm moving over east in a few months. She runs well all the time and is in fabulous condition. It is a compact car but the 1.5L engine has great power, compared to a small car with a 1.2/1.3L engine. I know because I had 1.3L Ford hatchback before! I am the only owner, female, and it has been fully serviced at the Nissan dealership. The last logbook service was in Oct 2015. The colour is Glasgow light green, which makes it particular easy to find her at the car park in shopping centres! If you have a good driving history as I do, it is very cheap to comprehensively insure. The annual registration cost is around $450 (currently expires June 2016). This is a very cheap and economical car to run and would be perfect for almost everyone! :ssign19:More details and pictures are on http://www.carsguide.com.au/cars-for-sale/CG_4307820
  3. If you like some physical activities, you can go to Scarborough and walk to Hillary's boat harbour. Less 10km, about 2 hours walk, including unlimited swimming! You can walk along beaches, visit some nice cafes for break/lunch, the Mettams pool is good for snorkeling too, if it's not windy and you have gear.
  4. If you pay same rent in Perth, you can get a double size of house! this moving is "trial" for us, after 12 months, we will review our stay whether continue or not. House price in Sydney is expected steady or getting degrease end of this year... Still higher than other states tho. Hopefully we find something decent there. Even if not, we still can have experience. Perth is getting quiet, hard to find something new especially job wise...
  5. Yes, I'm pretty sure Sydney is great city too. We just came back from quick visit there and loved, that is why we decided the move almost instantly. We aware of differences between holiday visit and living reality tho.
  6. After 10 years living in the lovely city, Perth, I decided to start new life in Sydney with my partner. We still hope for coming back to Perth one day, but Sydney has more opportunities for both of us, for lifestyle and jobs. So, we will sell most our households, but there are some goods we need to ship cross. Mainly clothes and kitchen small appliance including some plates. TV with PS4 will be the most fragile gadget. Do anyone use freight service between Perth and Sydney? Recommendations and comments are helpful for our new adventure. We take our VW-Golf cross the Nullarbor - Adelaid - Albury -ACT to Sydney for just over 2 weeks. It is very exciting trip but it will be small amount of luggage transfer...
  7. Thanks everyone! I researched a bit more, but if you are a gym exercise fan, most workout at gym you kinda have to put the info by yourself. To know how much calories you burn everyday life, the gadget looks working very well. But if you are keen to exercise to build your muscle, control your weight ... hmm. I quite liked Paul's idea ... buying a nice watch He loves automatic watch... price would be .... $$$$ (Speedmaster or moonwatch ...)
  8. Hi, I'm thinking of buying a fitness band for my BF birthday. He does gym exercise more than running on streets. Checked Fitbit etc but they more record steps and walking distance. However, my friend suggested that some pulse recording ones can be used for gym exercise and calculate burn calories. Anyone use these gadget? Also a review site said that gym people don't like something on their wrist whilst they are exercising. My BF doesn't wear any wrist bands (but gloves), do you get annoyed if you wear a band? (well, it depends on person I guess...)
  9. so they re-opened non-contributory visa recently, but it has no point? If you are 20-30year old and apply for the visa, still have a chance to live together here... a tiny bit chance
  10. Thanks for correction!! 186 doesn't have 2 years tie, so don't know why I wrote "no sponsor"
  11. Check here, answers for your questions are mentioned. it will be different requirement depending on working period under 457. http://www.immi.gov.au/Visas/Pages/187.aspx Any visa can be approved if you fulfill all visa criteria. You may need to pay for Resident return visa after obtaining PR (until you become citizenship)
  12. oh, i didn't know that! I might be eligible to apply independent if I knew this 2 years ago! This is good news for some people to try to get PR with different occupation
  13. I think you can get point from your other education if the education is related to your occupation. So it means if you apply as a cook, your engineer degree doesn't give you 15 points.
  14. I've done the assess 3 years ago. the assessor didn't give any instruction, he just came to have a look how I performed in the kitchen. When service finished and I started to prep, he asked what that was for etc. prepare nothing, just perform as usual they might check I did my job which I reported (every 3 months report) and I was independent enough. my my assessor was from tafe, who does assess for apprentice too, also is a lecture as well as a chef himself.
  15. If you research a lot and understand what you are going to apply(plus some other), DIY application isn't difficult. But if you don't have enough time to research, it would be hard. i did the process myself. I followed all changes and checked website a lot for 6 years before applying. Out of interest, I checked Canada visa, but no idea how I apply even I spend one week to check website. So I think using agent or not is depending how much do you understand the law/process. End of the day, agent asks you to collect document and fill forms(their own format), so I thought work loads didnt change between DIY and agent. (When I saw my friend used an agent)
