  1. I'm 99% sure it's the date you put the EOI in, some documents like your skills assessment, IELTS etc have expiry dates too and they took my expiry dates to be up to the EOI.
  2. I filled out the form as normal but the lawyer I had, sent it in. I don't know if he did anything different than me just applying for it normally. Just be careful though once they make a decision about your 461 visa you need to leave the country as soon as possible for them to approve it because you applied for the visa outside of australia. They don't let you know if its a yes or no until you leave, then you get an email within 2 working days to let you know. Prices for flights etc could be expensive just as a warning. Are they taking forever with your application too?
  3. It's a good stop gap but a lot of people don't like you on that visa if you are looking for work, many even question the 461 to be honest as it's not a common visa. I hope things have changed, I based my application on the processing times on the website and gave them 3 months before I had to leave. I thought it was plenty. My fingers and toes are crossed for you. Unfortunately he isn't an immi lawyer anymore cause I was hoping he would help me out with my PR but I never got a reply back and when I searched immi's website for his details he wasn't registered anymore. There are a few lawyers on this forum and a few sign in and help people too. Start a new thread if you like requesting a good immi advisor, you'll get loads of help.
  4. yeah I know, believe me I went grey during it all. I ended up getting a working holiday visa to give me a year in Aus and the ability to get a bit of work. The visitors visa is only 3 months and i'm nearly sure you have to show proof of a return flight. I also ended up hiring an immigration lawyer to give me bit of advice as there was no way to contact immigration. He was the one who suggested the working holiday visa. He got in contact with immigration to give me an update, either way I had no issues getting in at all. The only issue was since I submitted my application outside of Aus, I needed to be outside when they gave me the decision. I got an email to say a decision was ready, had 24 hours to leave the country and once I left within a few hours I got an email to say it was approved and came back in on my 461, so I just went to NZ for the weekend. To be honest we've just gone through PR and the PR application was so much easier than the 461! Bare in mind though, this was over a year ago for me, it might not be the case now.
  5. Hi, it was terrible. Mine came through in early August in the end. The immigration website was way off the mark with the times. I ended up moving to Aus cause we had flights booked and everything, which we probably shouldn't have done but we thought we'd left plenty of time to be approved or a request for more information. I needed to head out of Australia when they had made my decision so I ended up a few days back in NZ and then enter Aus on my 461. I do hope your application gets processed a lot quicker.
  6. I'm not keen to buy a car because your left with maintenance etc especially if your not lucky with what you've bought and you could end up spending a fortune. My plan will be to buy a good car in January but just for the time being I was hoping to get a long term rental. Thanks tomjackman and petitescargot. Does anyone know of smaller companies in the suburbs? I did some hunting in Perth and found a really nice and cheap company in the north that worked amazing.
  7. I'm not sure where this is supposed to go, but I'm looking for a long term rental car in Melbourne for around 3 months. Anybody have any idea, I've done the usual google search but I know there's generally place so in the suburbs that offer cheaper than the normal car hire company's. I'm pretty limited with budget ($20-$25 a day) and I don't mind what year/type of car I get.
  8. That's got to hurt. Glad I'm in now rather than later in the year! Thanks for responding
  9. Sorry if this is a dumb statement but if the full quota apply next month for my category that leaves those applying the rest of the year out of luck with getting an invitation until next year, would they let that happen? Sent in my EOI last the weekend :jiggy:
  10. Thanks maggiemay, that's helped heaps. I'm doing the EOI this weekend so thanks for the info. In the meantime I'm getting the police certs but in my last job they were only valid for 3 months and I was worried the 3 months might be up if I don't get selected to apply. do you know how you find out if your occupation is classified as pro-rata. I'm an aeronautical engineer so I go other 'other engineer'.
  11. I think i'd error on the side of caution with this one and get one just in case, I'd be annoyed if I got that far and the police cert was the one thing that delayed it since they're not that hard to get but take a while.
  12. Hi, I'm about to submit my EOI (I have the IELTS and skills assessment done) but I have a few questions I haven't been able to find answers to and hopefully someone can help out. - Can I confirm all I need to submit the EOI is my IELTS and assessment? Do they ask for other forms or paperwork? - When do the occupation ceilings reset? - Do they limit the applications per round if a number of people apply under the same code? Looking forward to the application (fingers and toes crossed) - I cant seem to find if police clearances from other countries expire, do immigration put an expiry date on them? - Do medicals have an expiry date? - I'm applying with my partner, can I please get a checklist of documents they get you to fill in and provide. I know we'll have to prove relationship and that's not an issue since i'm currently on a 461 and had to do that already, so I just need to prove we are still in the relationship which isn't too bad. But i'd like to have the forms filled out and the documents I need aside so the application can go smoothly and I'm not rushing around tearing my hair trying to out finding documents. Any help would be amazing, thank you in advance.
  13. previous comments have helped knowing that other people are in the same situation although not a nice situation to be in
  14. Wow that is not good at all maryjanejones or dhillon07. I have to admit I'm not sure why TTS is there at all. You email them and they forward your email to the consulate. They just seemed to be a middle person who knows nothing about my application at all and are not able to help either. Agree with you dhillon07 completely. Looks like I might need to cancel the application and head to Aus on a WHV and apply over there when I have more time for the processing of the 461. They do send the applications to Sydney though I did find that out. They do need to update their website to give people a clearer view on processing times.
  15. and just make sure it's all closed, don't open them and you'll be fine.
