  1. So, I've spent a bomb on teacher registration and police checks from 3 countries (not to mention the visa 189 application itself..), and just want to save $42 if I can! For visa 189, a National Police Check is required (https://www.afp.gov.au/what-we-do/services/criminal-records/national-police-checks). It's done by AFP. When registering with SA TRB, a national police history check was done ($25) by the board. Is it possible to use the latter for visa 189 application?
  2. Thanks, everyone! Will try to claim more points! @SVG: That is incorrect. I rang up IDP and they said it doesn't cancel out the results. SOMV says the same. @Beaty: Early childhood teaching
  3. For my skills assessment as a teacher, I've already done the Academic IELTS, and am getting 10 points from that. In total, I have 60 points. If I do the General training, there is a high chance I can bump this up to 70 points. 1. I need my Academic IELTS for my skills assessment - would doing the General 'cancel out' my Academic results? I read that authorities only refer to the latest IELTS- but I'm thinking of doing one General, one Academic. 2. Do invitations consider only the cut-off point, or are high-pointers (LOL) given priority? warm wishes and good luck to everyone~
  4. thanks for the quick response. I think I'll take the plunge. Am very glad for you that you made it already. Congrats! If you dont mind, could you share your thoughts on this: I had worked at Company A for about 3 yrs as a Web Editor. My agent was confident that so long as I could prove this, I qualify for the occupation code as Editor. But I then found out that I couldn't use it as I was travelling extensively and didnt have valid work visa. So I decided to not use it. Now that my agent says I dont qualify now, I'm wondering: can I use PART of it? i.e. Say I worked for 3 years, but only want to claim 9months of it.
  5. Thank you so much! I very much appreciate it - my agent who intially said it could be used, now says it can't, and the change took me by surprise. My problem is, there's another category called "Copywriter". Could your husband's original job title have matched another category too? thanks!!
  6. I'm trying to nominate myself as an editor but for one job, my job title was "content services". The actual ad had said "copywriter". My job is essentially writing and editing. Can I still qualify this as Editor?
  7. congrats! that's great news! I'm about to start process with an agent but while doing extensive research - I haven't been able to find a SINGLE job ad for my occupation code (Newspaper or Periodical Editor). This is a huge problem when I have to submit 5 ads later. Is this a hiring low-season in ACT/ Canberra? Because of this, I'm not moving anything along at all. I'm seeing if I can squeeze myself into another occupation code..
