  3. Thanks Everyone for all the good advice I have been to the passport office and did a 'fast track' I didn't know you could do such a thing and it was quite painless apart from 'getting stuck in traffic' with only 2 miles to go but we got there in time for the appointment and the new passport 'Hopefully' is being delivered today by courier!!!! thanks again guys x:ssign19:
  4. Hi Do you think I have enough time to apply for a new passport?
  5. Hi everyone I didn't think I had enough time to apply for a new passport and to be sure that I have it before I go!!!
  6. Hi Katie I rang Emirates this morning as I am flying Newcastle-Dubai-Adelaide and was told that they (UAE) have just changed the rule to the same as Australia for transit passengers! she has assured me it is very recent they had just the very same enquiry a couple of days ago and the Emirates Staff checked the new rules and she gave me her name told me to ask for her if any problems.
  7. Hi thanks for the replies:- I was directed by UKPA to a website www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/australia/entry-requirements and it states about 'Passport validity' = your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay. No additional period of validity beyond this is required. If you are transiting another country en route to or from Australia, make sure you check the entry requirements for that country. So its looking like I'm okay! just thought I would pass on this information ! Grannygook
  8. Hi everyone I need to do a quick visit (end October) to Australia (4 weeks stay) as my son in law has had an accident my UK passport expires in Feb 2014 ! someone has told me I need to have at least six months left on my passport or I wont be allowed into the country!!!!!!!!! is that correct? very worried grannygook
  9. Hi everyone Has anyone ever been granted a visa on this class who is on this forum??? If so it would be lovely to hear your 'positive and negatives' on it and how long did it take? would you do anything different knowing what you know now type of thing. Would be uplifting for 'us lot' sitting in the @ never getting to the top queue' thanks in advance
  10. Hi Fisher1 thanks for the reply we too have a elderly father of 88 and it would be out of the question to leave him - we don't have the funds to pay for the 143 YET but we are saving incredibly hard and are slowly getting there! but it will take us 3/4 years to raise the visa amounts ( not taking into account the yearly increases) the idea of opening an Aussie bank account is tempting ! do you know if it is do able and is it difficult to set up ???? and can anyone recommend any ??
  11. Hi Fisher 1 we have been in the queue since 2011 and have moved up 5,210 places but we intend to change to a 143 asap do you know if it is complicated to change from 103 to 143 and would we have to go to the bottom of the 143 queue or would they take the years we have been sitting on the 103 into consideration? lots of questions and as you have asked are there any more 103 out there ? lets hear from you if so and lets support each other throught the minefield of the visa applications
  12. Hi Freesia thanks for the reply I also am planning on changing to the 143 but unfortunately don't have a house to sell therefore I am saving very very hard to raise the funds to pay for a 143 I am having car boots cake stalls on working my socks off to 'get it together' to be honest all I do is work and sleep and am very mean to myself !!!but WILL do it!!! when you say you think the visa cost is set a the time of acknowledgement do you mean when they received the application cash your cheque then put you in the queue?
  13. Hi everyone I've just joined this forum and hope to find it useful in my 'quest' to emigrate to Adelaide to join my daughter and her family !!! We are on the visa queue ( parent (migrant) subclass 103) we were put on it after sending our application off in 2010 ! we moved slowly every month but for the last 2 month have not moved any at all !!!! is anyone else on this forum in this queue and are you having the same problems!!! also the new charges for the visa came out 1st July and I cannot make any sense of them !!can anyone advise?????
