  1. Went down for a two day trip just for inspecting (and buying) a house. This was really short ...
  2. Bring 'em with you. I am interested in buying it down there then..
  3. Exchanging currencies is a valuable business for banks. The better option is always to go to the ATM and get it cash with a maestro or credi card. There are some cc on the market that allows ATM usage overseas without costs.
  4. Ha, we ringed up AHPRA to ask about the progress because we never had any personal contact from a case officer. They didn't even know there was a letter posted to us a week earlier!
  5. We saw the money going at the date the application arrived at the AHPRA office. However, we never got any details nor personal contact, just a postal letter after almost 3 months... I don't know whether humans are working at AHPRA or just a computer sending randomized nonsens!?

We've recently booked flights for our families staying in Oz in September/October with QF (operated by EK) in economy for EUR 560 each on Expedia BR... (AMS - DXB - SIN - MEL, MEL - DXB - AMS)
  7. Hi, I am a nurse working in Germany and as far as I can see I struggle with the same problems with AHPRA as you do. It is 13 weeks now since AHPRA received my documents, the fee was claimed and payed within a week and from that moment on I haven't heard anything from them. After 10 weeks I started calling them weekly with getting contradictory information. From "the assessment will be finalized soon" to "the assessment didn't even start". No request via email has ever been answered. Last call today: due to a high volume of oversea assessments (e.g. Africa) they can' t give a time frame. But I was given a usefull advise: to check my mails very often- as if this can make the process faster! Tomorrow I'll quit my job as I have a period of notice of 6 month (PR Visa time frame: 8/14) with nothing in my hands then the Visa itsself. So, good luck to all!

I'm still waiting too. AHPRA Adelaide says, it's still in queue and they don't know how long it will still take to process... However, it seems the left hand does not know what the right hand is doing there...
  9. Almost all airlines sell RTW tickets. Normally you can stay several months at one place befor you have to leave. Alternatively try a stopover in Vienna instead of buying a higher priced RTW ticket. Give the Star Alliance a try (flying Singapore, United or Austrian from the US - changing to Austrian and Singapore to Oz)!
  10. Sent mine to the Adelaide office. See what (and when) happens...
  11. Well, I applied a month ago and received only one signal from AHPRA. The credit card was charged. Gave them a call this week asking whether the ANMAC documents have arrived. Thus they told me everything is fine for now. However, a case manager would start with the application end of November earliest. Doesn't seem to be a fast lane...
  12. Well, you're right. That's as if s.o. says UK is part of Scandinavia due to its Northern geographical level... Or just British humor !?
  13. Not sure where you read that. In fact, ANMAC is responsible for the assessment of you as a European nurse when applying for PR visa. It does not matter how long you worked ever, if you want to apply as a nurse on SOL, you must get ANMAC assessed. Usually they define a range of "has worked at least x months full time in the last y years", which mean, everything is fine for you! Btw, everything you need is already stated in your PM in the German Australia forum!
  14. Hi, AHPRA is for registration to be allowed to work as a nurse in Oz, whilst ANMAC is responsible for immigrants to check whether your study is comparable to Oz content and you're on the SOL. In the end, you have to assess at ANMAC before going into the 189 or 190 visa path. After being assessed, you need to register at AHPRA. Good luck!
