  1. Hi Marisa, Thank you for the reply. My old passport is not valid anymore. I will not be using it for future travels. Cheers V
  2. Hi All, I hold an Australian Skilled Migrants sub class 175 visa and is yet to make the permanent move to Australia. Recently, I have been granted British Citizenship and therefore the passport and the nationality details submitted on the original application are no longer valid. I did my research and found the application (929) and evidence I need to submit to DIAC. I emailed these to 929.update**************. I received a reply yesterday stating that the updates have been done and the new passport details are noted against the visa. However, when I log in to the VEVO section of border.gov.au, the new passport details aren't on there; still has the old passport and nationality. I have replied back to the agent querying about this and they are yet come back to me. In the meantime I logged in to my immiAccount and figured out how to update passport details via their website, but when I try to change the passport details, it does not allow me to change the country the passport was issued. Anyone been in the same situation or have any advise? Much appreciated. Thank you in advance. V
  3. Just been approached by a recruiter for a Filemaker Developer job for Localsearch based in Robina, QL. I have a Skype interview lined up for next week. It would be great to secure job before moving to Aus but just want to make sure it's a good company etc. Anyone heard of them and know them to be a good company to work for? Cheers, V
  4. Thanks MaggieMay24, I shall look in to more thoroughly before making a decision, last thing we need is to spend all that money and yield nothing out of. Thanks again for all your comments.
  5. Thanks for your reply Karen, we hope things work out for us too, at the moment we are excited and anxious about what Australia will hold for us! It's comforting to hear success stories like yours here.
  6. Thanks a lot for your replies, it clarifies a lot of things! We shall look in to 309/100 visa for my Wife. Thanks again for taking time to reply.
  7. Hi Everyone, I currently live in the UK. I was granted a 175 Independent Visa in October 2012 which is valid until October 2017. I made a short 10 day visit to Australia in November 2012 to validate the 'first visit within a year' requirement. I had plans to move to Australia the following year but met a girl and it all got a bit serious and eventually got married to her in August 2014. We both want to move to Australia before October 2017 but have a few things to sort out in the UK career-wise. I have a few questions regarding the situation : 1. My research has suggested that I can move to Australia pretty much any day I want until Oct 2017 expiry. However, if I left Australia after October 2017, I would be required to apply for a RRV. If I haven't been in the country for 2 years, I believe I can apply for a 3 month RRV which requires me to have been in Aus for a day in the last 5 years and show commitment to living in Aus. I have my brother and his family living in Australia and if the 3 month RRV situation was to occur, I would (hopefully) have a job and a residential address in Australia. Would this be sufficient to show commitment to qualify for a 3 month RRV? (My Wife wants us to visit the UK possibly for a couple of weeks every year and return.) 2. Could my wife apply for a partner visa before I arrive in Aus and move there together or would I require to move to Australia first and stay there for a specific time before she can apply? 3. If we decide to move to Australia in June 2017, before my visa expires in October 2017, and make a three week visit prior to that in February 2016, would I be let back in June 2017? My understanding is that until October 2017 I can come and go as I please, without a RRV. Please correct me if I am wrong. 4. The 5 Year RRV that will be granted if I have lived in Australia for a continuous period of 2 years : Does this mean entire 2 years? 365 + 365? Or is there a leeway; for example, I could've been out of the country for a couple of weeks each year which would be ignored? 5. I am also in the process of applying for British Permanent Residency, as I have lived in the UK for 10 years as of this year. I hope this isn't going to effect my Australian PR or Vise-versa. From what I have read, you can hold multiple residencies in different countries. Does anyone know if this is in fact the case? 6. I would be eligible for British Citizenship next year, if I apply for British Citizenship, would that have an effect on my 175 Visa? Thank you so much for taking time to read and answer my questions. It's greatly appreciated! Best Regards, V
  8. Hi Rupert and wrussel Thanks for your replies, sorry for the confusion, at the time I applied for the visa : 6 months at the time the visa was granted : 9 months. Is this still ok? -V
  9. Hi Rupert, Thank you that's very helpful. We had lived together for 6 months at the time I lodged my application. I am still waiting to hear back from my agent. What are my chances of getting this resolved without losing my visa? we are both very very worried as we had made a lot of plans for when we move next year. If I had not made this mistake it would've been very straight forward! Thanks, V
  10. Hi wrussell, This was a genuine mistake. I hope they would see it that way. I have contacted the agent I made my application with, I am waiting for her to get back to me. How likely is the worst case scenario? I am planning to putting the case to DIAC as, like I said before, it was an honest mistake. I have a feeling that it wouldn't be that much of a problem as this particular aspect, i.e. my relationship status wouldn't have impacted their decision to grant me the sc 175 visa compared to, for example, if I had made an error on my date of birth or something. Also, if I put the case on to DIAC, would this mean my visa would automatically be cancelled and reassessed? Thanks for your help, -V
  11. Hi all, I am currently holding a SC 175 visa, living in The UK, looking to move to Australia end of the year. I am currently looking to apply for my partner with whom I have been living together for 1 year and 3 months. Going through requirements and her application I noticed that on my SC 175 visa application I made on June 2012, I put my relationship status as 'Never been married or been in a de-facto relationship' as at the time my understanding of a de-facto relationship was a civil partnership and did not take it of any significance. I feel rather stupid for choosing this now and have a bad feeling that this would effect her application as my partner. Would this be the case? We have vast amounts of evidence to prove our relationship, but I am worried that the fact that I chose the wrong relationship type on my original application would have repercussions. Can anyone suggest if it would? Thank you in advance, -V
  12. Hi Everyone, I am a 27 year old Systems Developer/Analyst working for a medium size distribution company in the United Kingdom. I work in the IT Department developing software to make company processes for efficient. One of my major achievements would be implementing a Stock Warehouse system using an barcode scanning application I developed using VB.NET compact framework and SQL Mobile. I also developed various systems for Quotations, Document Management, Commissioning and Maintenance. I also provide user support, writing documentation, bug fixing etc. Although I used VB.NET to develop the warehouse application all other development are done through RAD software called Servoy and Filemaker. Although I don't develop in .NET I have done in the past and .NET was what got me in to programming. I have a 2.1 degree in Electronics and Software Engineering at a good British University and received an award for the best final year project. I am looking to move to Australia next year. I have managed to get my Permanent Residency in Australia and am quite sceptical about what I will face when I start job hunting there. Since graduating, I have worked at my current job for almost 7 years and have not had any other IT related job. I am not sure if this would be seen as a good thing or a bad thing. I believe Filemaker and Servoy are not widely used in Australia as a development tool. I am closely involved in analysing problems and providing solutions for them. Maybe that's something I should focus on; System Analysis, as my experience with .NET is not very much. Another option would be a Junior Project Management role or even a Junior .NET Developer role. I thought you might be able to help and direct me in the right direction as you understand the Australian Job market and its requirements. I am very excited about moving to australia and settling down but the thought of getting a job there bothers me quite a lot. The lack of demand for my immediate skills are mainly to blame but, am determined to make this work. Thank you in advance. Any feedback is appreciated. P.S. I have also enrolled in an ITIL Foundation exam to improve my chances when job hunting.
