  1. Hi all, I have had my application for state sponsorship from the Northern Territory returned as positive so the next step is to submit my visa application on line (or my agent will be doing this for me). I was advised the processing time for the 489 is the same as the 190 and currently stands at 6 months! Could anyone tell me if this is just a guide or if in fact this is the case? We have now jumped through so many "hoops" as such and managed to do it successfully so far so I suppose 6 months is nothing in the scheme of things but I was hoping it would be quicker as we just want to get on with it, get on the plane ad go! I know I'm not the most patient person but any advice and experiences would be appreciated. Thanks, Gareth
  2. Hi, I have been invited to apply for a 489 visa with sponsorship from the Northern Territory's subject to providing further evidence about my finances, which I now have and will be submitting to them next week. I was told by the Northern Territory's that my state sponsorship would be approved within 24hrs after they receive this evidence. I am starting this thread to see how others are getting along and how quickly they progress through the visa process. Anyone is welcome to post nd comment on it but I am particularly interested to hear about others who have applied for NT sponsorship, whether it be 489 or 190. We are looking to relocate to Alice Springs as this is where my employment would be, so again any information regarding Alice would be appreciated, we are well aware of the issues there, ie "locals" having issues with alcohol etc, so any productive advice would be most appreciated. Thanks and look forward to hearing the visa journey of others.
  3. Hi Thanks for your response, I was thinking where are the American forces living as they generally don't tolerate anti social behaviour (previous experience from being in the military myself and serving alongside them). You say the areas near the golf course, could you name a few areas, I will of course google map the area but it would be good to receive named areas. How do you find life in general in Alice? what is the family social scene like? (either visiting freinds for bbq etc) also are there places to go with the children (my son is 4 and my daughter is 6 months) for days out. What are the locations of the town camps? does their behaviour "spill over" into other areas or is it generally confined to the camps? Sorry to bombard you with questions but feel these are things I need to know before we start looking. Once again thank you.
  4. Hi, we are fairly new to the site and it is now coming to the point in our visa journey to start researching where to live in Alice Springs, which is where my job will be. I have read some very mixed reports on Alice, ie the alcohol related crime, anti social behaviour displayed by the local undesirables so, could anyone give me a point in the right direction as to where to live which is suitable and safe for my young family and suitable for my position as a prison officer as I don't wish to mix/live in areas where the vast population of that area are former "guests" of a prison. Are there any other people who are in ta similar position? ie either a prison/police officer moving to Alice or others in general moving to Alice looking for a bit of guidance? Thanks in advance
  5. Hi Sammy Thanks for your message do you live there at present? I have heard good and bad things about it. What parts are the worst bits of Alice Springs? as over in the uk you have your good parts and bad parts. If you do live there and have children whats schools do there go too? Thanks katie
  6. Hi everyone me and my partner and 2 children are moving to Alice springs Feb/march anyone else living there? going there? or been there? i have heard alot of good and bad about the place but we do like as a family the country side and the outdoor living. If we go there and we are not keen we can always start somewhere else to live but my partners pretty much got his job offer there. I have a son whos 4 and a daughter whos 6 months old so trying to find things to do when i get over there any ideas on what groups i could take my youngest to? and anymore onlne groups that i could meet other people? as over here i spend alot of my time with friends so once we are settled be great to make some new friends. Is there anyone else at a simialar stage as us? and going to be arriving there when we are? Thanks Katie
  7. Hi, Could anyone advise on current processing times for NT state sponsorship for 190 in Novemeber (just to give an up to date picture) as my agent should be lodging ours next week, just waiting on some documents my agent asked for Also anyone else prison officer/police officer as it would be interesting to hear from them. Thanks
