  1. I think previous poster got confused as you mentioned 'Medicare'. Medicare is the free govt healthcare here in Australia. Private Health Insurance - you need to get cover that is for your 457 visa. We used Bupa but I've heard good things about Medibank too. Also - not everyone needs to wait 2 years to get Permanent Residency!
  2. Your sponsor/employer should have a migration agent doing their paperwork for them. They should be able to help you with this.
  3. I think your employer may be breaching the law? Fair Work Ombudsman might be interested. But of course, down goes your visa IMHO!
  4. I can relate to the above - so true! You don't even know maybe your CO might be on leave for a few days etc... so many factors
  5. You need to show you were paid so payslips, PAYG, group cert or tax return.
  6. You're better off asking your friend...everyone's situation is different.
  7. We need to know more about you such as your occupation and points score?
  8. I'm pretty sure as long as they're not family.
  9. Good to hear. But politicians do it all the time. And the Minister is a politician.
  10. Sunshine state for you then! :cute: I'm in Mental Health/Acute Care at a public hospital here in Sydney. Are you talking about RNs who visit frail/ill in their homes? I believe they're called Home Carers/Community Nurses here.
  11. Are media releases 100% reliable? I mean, can the Department of Immigration suddenly remove occupations since the new list isn't actually published yet?
  12. Hello! I'm also a RN and have been working in Australia on a 457 visa for the past few years. It's not that easy to find work unless you're willing to put in the hard yards like night shifts/early starts etc... Good in that you can pick kids up from school but bad because the last few hours of the shift are so draining. The regulations are pretty strict and processing is quite slow at AHPRA. Have you decided which state you want to move to?
  13. Yep mid January most likely. Not familiar with IT roles though - only healthcare. Guessing it's the same?
