Hi. I'm at about the same point. I did my academic IELTS for registration as a midwife and got the required mark of 7 writing and 9 in all other categories. However for visa purposes you can take the general test which I understand is a little easier. I studied using textbooks from the library which really helped. Obviously cost wise its best to get 8 in each area of the academic IELTS then you wont need to do the general test but if not there is still an option.
