  1. Hi there just in reply to your message I bought our eldest son out here summer after completing his GCE,s with the idea that he would then fit in to another 2 years here I even spoke to the school before I came and explained, we arrived in August my son was the oldest n his year at home so turned 17 in the Sept. When we went to the school for an interview they wouldn't take him owing to the fact he had already done exams ,even though they can stay at school till there 18 here in Queensland. So after enquiring before came and they said that was ok they still dont have to take them. This meant he stayed at home till the following January till he could start Taft. He was very happy and was looking forward to starting school with his 13 year old brother but he .became very down. My sister contacted the education board here and they said the head of the school does not have to take them if they are nearing there 17th birthday. Needless to say he become very depresses withdrawn, he started soccer got a pastime job but never connected here because of no buddies, he is going back to Uk in August mow nearly 19 to try and start again, we are staying here with our other 2 boys which is going to really be upsetting. Make sure you check every avenue out before coming as Tafe has cost us $5000 dollars for his course too that he is just finishing, you will need lots of money if you are coming. I wish you all well on your journey. Regards
  2. hello there we moved to ormeau in August this year with 3 boys 11,13,17 i so we have been here 2 months. The M1 is busy there is no messing around there but once you get used to the driving which i still am you will be ok, they undertake here which is hairy and lorries pass inthe outside lane and every other lane just to to keep going but it is quite a good place to live central to goldcoast and brizzie in about 30 mins if no accidents and 25 mins to goldcoast, and everything is near like movieworld, wet and wild etc etc. Boys are in school and catchments to count it is quiet here though and once it gets dark that it, which again is hard to get used to but we are slowly adapting it is clean and tidy area though if i can help you in any other way just let me know we are living on Jacobs Ridge regards The Polaines

  7. We are in a similar position my son is finishing his Gcse's this summer then we are travelling to Ormeau Qld i wanted him to go back to school to make friends, but do you think they will let him attend he wont get there until September it was unfortunate how the visa process took we startd back in 2009. My sister who lives in Ormeau is under the impression that he would notget a job unless he finished year 12. Any help with this information would be great many thanks June
  8. Thanks Dean for the info i have already got my AQF i got it back in 2009 when all the changes came in so at least i hvegot that, one other question though could ou tell me do i need a white or blue card to work out there is it a i like a cscs card do you know? cheers ray
  9. Hi Dean my name is ray and I am coming to ormeau in Queensland in July I see your info about plasters and rates I wondered where u was situated in oz as I will bs looking for work when I arriive I have been told u can earn good rates I wondered what your feedback was Cheers ray
  10. Hello there just need to tell you I would not reccomend Global visas PM me for details
  11. Thankyou Ellie a great help and you are also in Ormeau well that good to know, we are planning to come there as my sister has lived there for 20 years and we visited at christmas and loved it there, although the house we would like to rent seems a bit hard to achieve i think ,whenwe came there people informed me it was easy to rent a 4 bedroom house with Pool although now that seems a bit of a mission now according to all the estate agents we have been on. When we come out in August we need to stay somewhere in Ormeau maybe to rent for a couple of weeks while we find somewhere to rent, dont know if you are faimilar with any motels and hotels in the area that would be really helpful Thanks for replying , i feel like i am going insane with organising schools for the boys age 16,13,10 at the moment it feels a completely insane time But im sure it will be worth it Cheers JUne:wink:
  12. Hi jonny j the only info i have is that i dont think they do sand and cement render, they do mainly one coat systems such as monopraeal and monocouche not sure about spellings! and i think that they are solid plasters that do this, only got info from brother in law who lives there hope this helps regards ray
  13. Hello there well from my experience they ask for more than they need reference wise so they can ask other people i know they didnt actually contact alot of mine, although the first time i did fail i then paid to do a australian recognised qualification which went straight though along with all the original information so not sure, sounds like you have alot of experience in your given field good luck!!

  15. Well Rich my story is a very long one i am afraid and does not reflect waiting times now, we actually started back in 2007 but we got caught up in every change and the timing was rubbish i failed my frst TRA then i gained AQF also with Masterbuilders that was in 2009 and it was then a matter of weeks and then i passed my TRA, we then got caught up in the Global Credit Crunch and they made changes to order of skills and we didnt submit our visa until 2009 and we got told they would prob not look at us till 2012 because of the backlog we then decided that it would not be feasible anymore although . We do hve family there but when we started out we was encouraged to go for 176 visa on our skills alone, then when all the waiting times were going to be long my agent encourage me to get my fam ily to sponser me if my job was desired in Queensland at itturned out it still was so they ended up sponsering us and we got our visa last July so it still took us 2 years, but to be fair our agents that we had were rubbish Global Visas in London they dragged there feet and i had 5 agents while i was doing my application they never took our calls and on time i waited 3 weeks to answer concerning a email and in the end i used to travel to London to there office to actally get answers that seemed quicker. Anyway im sure your application will be smoother i dont knowif you are using a agent or not if i had my time again i would have prob done the paperwork myself as it cost me £5000 plus. Anyway that was my story so good luck! Cheers Ray
