Thanks. Yes in Swan Hill the only plan at the moment is for the Pioneer Settlement Museum. Mildura and Echuca both seem to have a lot more going on. Maybe we won't stay the night in Swan Hill...

Hi all, Myself and my partner are currently planning a route for our Christmas road trip and I was wondering if any of you had and 'must see' locations? Of course I'm scouring Google / Trip Advisor and other sources for potential suggestions. Interests include wine, cheese, beer, history, mining and minerals, fruit picking, local agriculture, animals, aboriginal art. Open to anything really. Potential route is as follows: Melbourne --> Echuca --> Swan Hill --> Mildura --> Broken Hill --> White Cliffs --> Cobar --> Dubbo --> Mudgee --> Orange --> Wagga Wagga --> Melbourne All of the about in about 17 days. The original plan was to head west after Broken Hill and return to Melbounre via Adeliade but I've done that route a few times so not too appealing. Hi all, I’ve had conflicting information from fiends, colleagues and Form 1300T so hoping one / some of you can provide clarification / link me to a thread in which this as been previously asked many times: The minimum time-frame before I can apply for Australian citizenship from a 186 visa? How long do I need to stay on my 186 before I ally for citizenship and does this depend on ceremony dates at all? I arrived in Australia in July 2011 (4 years 3 months ago) on a 457 visa. Full time employment for 4 years. Recent transitioned to a 186 visa – Have been on this for about 2 weeks. I have been with my current employer 2 years and 8 months. Live in Melbourne. Apologies, my knowledge of this next step of the process is limited. Thanks in advance Sean

The end of September the asked for ACPO criminal records check and medical info with a HAP ID. All that cost me about $350. Had to order the records check from the UK so that took about 3 weeks. But once it was uploaded they made their decision within a week (and I have a minor criminal records from my misspent youth). So it was a very quick turn-around once they have the info.

I submitted my Permanent Employer Sponsored or Nominated Visa (186) before 2 years with my current company and before 4 years of my 457 was up. It took them so long to decide (4 months), that by the time the decision was made I'd been at the company just over 2 years while my 457 had a month left on it. I would say start your application if you are approaching 2 years with the same company.

22 Jan 2015 - Employer Nomination for a Permanent Appointment (186) submitted & paid. 15 May 2015 - Permanent Employer Sponsored or Nominated Visa (186) submitted & paid. 26 October 2015 - Approved. So 4 months to get my employer approved and 5 months for me. Did all the paperwork myself with no assistance from my employer or migration agent.

Hi, Wondering if someone can provide me with a ballpark time line for the following: 186 application submitted on 15 May 2015. Request for additional medical info and ACPO / police check on 22 September 2015. Medical completed on 29 September 2015 and info submitted directly via BUPA. Certified ACPO check uploaded on 20 October 2015 i.e. all additional info request submitted by 20 October. How much longer am I likely to wait for a decision? I'm thinking about another month maximum? Thanks in advance Sean

I thought that maybe they would give it a different number, or it would be called 'Application for PR' or something more easily identifiable. But there is an option for 'Permanent Employer Sponsored or Nominated Visa (186,187)', so maybe that's the one I need to click on..

Hello all, Today I received notification that my Employer Nomination for Permanent Appointment (186) had been approved. The title of the letter I received was "Approval of a Nominated Position as an Approved Appointment in the ENS Nomination (Temporary Residence Transition)". This, I understand, now allows me to apply for PR. I am currently on a 457 visa and am processing the application myself without the assistance of a migration agent. So what is the next step? From my online immigration account it looks like I have a couple of choices: Permanent Employer Sponsored or Nominated Visa (186,187) General Skilled Migration Visa (476, 887) I suspect its the 476? Thanks for the help - Reluctant to sit on hold to immigration for 45 minutes to ask the same question.

Hmmm, never been refused a rental property in Melbourne yet. Current resident are obviously more appealing then someone who is yet to enter the country. Put yourself in their shoes. Too risky. Find a place once you get here, they do go fast (in the nice areas).

Avoid Cathy Pacific. While the staff were great, terrible, old, dilapidated planes. Would never fly with them again. Seriously scary. I've flown with Cathy Pacific, Qantas and Emirates. Emirates where outstanding. I would choose the Arab airlines Emirates and Etihad first.
