  1. Hi Joanne, We used www.insure4less.com.au They offer one-way travel and our policy was with Allianz. Hope this helps. cheers, Teresa
  2. It may come under compassionate reasons but wouldn’t you have to do two weeks quarantine on return?
  3. Yes thank you. Feeling settled and happy to be home
  4. We went with ‘people travelling on urgent or unavoidable business’.
  5. Definitely apply for an exemption. Border control will not let you past check in at the airport. We couldn’t believe it either. No one without a compelling reason is permitted to leave. My advice is to apply for your exemption ASAP.
  6. Hi Parley, my husband was denied leave to depart Australia on Sunday 5 April due to not having an exemption regardless of a one way ticket and relocation to uk as a British citizen. ABF officers were at the check in desks to check on exemptions. We had to send an urgent email to the crisis management team at Home Affairs and they responded to the original exemption request sent 9 days earlier within 30 mins, this was at 8pm. He was then able to board his flight and only just made it.
  7. My husband doesn’t fall into the category of ‘ordinarily resident in another country’ so was advised to obtain an exemption. Melbourne airport also has a notification on their page to say that travel from Australia without exemption is not permitted. Very confusing.
  8. Yes flights with Qatar are still in operation. They have a number of code share partners using the flight also.
  9. Hi everyone, We are mid-way through our move back to UK, I'm already here and husband is in Melbourne where our house is due to settle tomorrow (Fri). He has a one-way flight booked to leave Australia on Sunday but we still have not received the exemption allowing him to depart. This was applied for via the website a week ago and still no word. He's got all the supporting documentation with him as to why he needs to depart. Should he just turn up to the airport on Sunday? He's a dual national (Brit/Oz). Thank you.
  10. Hi Iron Chef, Yes, I agree. Having worked in the industry for a number of years I think poor repairs and premiums can be an issue but thought it was worth putting it out there so that folks know they have a choice. Saying all that though, I've just changed from my bank to Youi for contents/home insurance and happily paid more for it as my bank were rubbish when I put through a claim earlier this year. ~
  11. Hi all, I haven't been on here for a while so apologies if I am repeating info already out there. Previously, you could only insure your import with Just Car Insurance, as we did. However, whilst on a phone call with Youi yesterday I was very pleased to hear that they will now insure cars from the UK as long as they were built after 1980. I saved myself over $300 on our Peugeot 307 Estate! Don't know if any other insurers are now able to provide cover but it wasn't the case in August when I received my renewal notice and phoned around to check. If anyone is interested, I have the contact email address for the guy who I dealt with at Youi (a Pom) and he is more than happy to assist with a quote.
  12. Hi Jim we are almost at the end of our PI process. Our vehicle isn't pre 89 (2003) and there have been a few hold ups along the way. We shipped ours with our furniture and experienced no problems except that, even tho we had the chassis steam cleaned in UK, AQIS weren't happy here and it cost about $600 to have it cleaned again. There seems to be a gap between what the federal gov and state gov require from you in the process of getting the car registered. Once our car registration is finalised I'll post the whole process on here. In the meantime if you have any questions please feel free to pm me. Teresa

    Quarantine reduced

That's good news. My 3 dogs and 2 cats did their time at Spotswood a few months ago and whilst they were all ok and looked after as well as could be expected, they lost weight and were not very happy with their confinement. 10 days is a breeze compared to 30 and hopefully that will help those struggling with the decision whether to bring their pets over here.
  14. Hi Tony I'm sorry to hear that. My phone was bought from an Apple store with Vodafone as the provider and Apple sorted it out for me when it was locked. Are your provider able to help at all?
  15. Hi Tony Try this link and select which option you prefer, online chat (which I did) or a call back once you've provided your serial number. https://getsupport.apple.com/ServiceOptionAction.action, sorry I haven't figured out how to link it to the page, just copy and paste into your browser.
