Well last year you gave me a hug heads up about beds and I was supposed to arive in July, then the girlfriend and I split and it was like all hell had let loose. So, I now have flights booked for the 16th April 2012 so in 6 weeks time or so I should still be hitting your shores.

5. Come on, that can't be classed as a selling point can it? Surely that decreases your property value :biglaugh: Good luck with the sale :wubclub:
6. What does that mean........ :policeman: Bloody suburb snob.... LMAO :biglaugh:
7. Gee Aj.................... Where did you live? In a paddock? (Not aimed at you AJ) I read lots of bad things about Tarneit, things like no parks or footpaths, no shops no transport etc..... Why on earth do people move to an area, that doesn't have the services they require? Tarneit has loads of houses for rent so why settle for something that doesn't fit your needs? Myself I have kids so a park and school were the main 2. Our park has 2 tennis courts, basket ball court, oval, free bbq's and play ground, all free. We live close to the local supermarket, corner shop, bus route, kinder and school. Know what you want before you sign a lease, It isn't rocket sience..... Olly someone needs to sort out the traffic, all these new houses and they are using old farm roads.....
8. The household situation described by the information you have entered is not covered by the scenarios used by this Estimator.
9. You can buy an outside table and 4 chairs for $300 at K-mart If you are worried about new items, don't be. I think customs are looking at you selling these items once in Australia, so as long as it's not 10 brand new dinning tables they arent that interested. Also our shippers told us, that the only way they can check is to do a search on the item in question so if you are worried buy last years style!
10. Ship everything, even plastic clothes pegs. Old or new doesn't matter bring the lot! Not because things are dear, but for 3 reasons. If you come with nothing or very little you are forced to buy while things are not on sale. You don't know your way around so are buying blind. You are buying to suit a rental! If you bring EVERYTHING, at least it gives you time to look at things, compair prices and wait for sales to start. So what if the sofa is falling apart or the bed is on it's way out, you'll have enough expence without needing to buy things, not to mention saving the stress of it all.
11. Expensive Oz :nah: Just people who have no idea on where to shop to get those bargains!!!! :wubclub:
12. Long story short... I came to the UK for 6 months (dual passport) met Tracy and fell head over heels in love, around the 2 yr mark, I started missing everything and nothing, nothing was good enough, everything seemed an issue, that lasted another 2 yrs!!! Then 1 day things fell into place, there were lots of things I still disliked about the UK but life wasn't bad. I'm back in Australia now and I just feel happier, don't know why? But I just do, the only thing I can think it is, is familiarisation..... I'm no expert but I think the move works better when you can add things to the move rather than take things away! Nothing can replace what you have. Example, people that like going to the pub in the UK for a drink after work, move to a suburb in Australia that doesn't have a local pub.... No big issue right? They have loads of other things in their new life. But that pint after work is their time to relax, unwind, and talk bull sh7t. Take it away and there is a void. Now if they would of moved to an older area that had local pubs they could of continued what they had in the UK and enjoyed all the new things on offer.... Simplistic I know but lots of people miss the simple things of their life. IMHO if you are worried and want it to work find an area that you both can continue what you enjoy while adding to the richness of your lives. :wubclub:
13. :embarrassed: Tracy is my wifes name, I hijacked her user name years ago...... So I guess being an Aussie man, it gives me front running on how Aussie men think... :biglaugh::wubclub:
14. I'm an Aussie who lived in the UK for 6 yrs...... Personally I don't think many Aussies want to leave Australia for good, lots go for holidays work etc but at the end of the day Australia is home and Australia is where we want to be! (now I'm positive there are exceptions to the rule, nothing is ever 100%) It took a long time for me to settle and get into the English way, but I knew England wasn't for me, I loved going to the footy, the history etc, etc and on the whole people were nice, but it just wasn't home. I want to go back for holidays and explore and you are right England isn't a bad place to be but it just wasn't home. From the few lines you wrote about your husband I personally don't think he will be happy. If surfing is a big part of his life, you need to live somewhere he can continue that, no matter what else he gets out of England if he can't have that he'll get home sick, and then nothing will make him want to stay! (Hope I'm wrong) and at the end of the day you know him better than anyone. The only other thing I can say is.... Read how many people want to go back to the UK, their holidays in Australia were good enough to make them want to come over, but once here it was a whole different ball game, the same could be said in reverse for your hubby. Good luck in whatever you both decide. :wubclub:
15. Good luck, just bumping up
