  1. Dont hold your breath on WA health website jobs,if they are a recruitment pool,it stays there in the website for a year, even if theres no vacancy,I rang every single one of them except mental health. Im an ICU nurse,I used to be with Healthcare Australia (WANA),shifts gets cancelled esp in the public most of the time. Now with government NURSEWEST,its better but work still gets cancelled. Fiona Stanley will open next year but Royal Perth & Freo will downsize so technically its only 250 beds extra.Lots of new grads has no jobs. Have you look at NSW erecruit?Theres plenty of ED advertised,at least in NSW they only put it in the website when they recruit staff not recruitment poop like WA(Wait Awhile) has.

    Ping Pong?

There will be lots of jobs in Sydney, NSW will enforce the 1:4 ratio in April all across any local health districts. We made a mistake of coming here in Perth(as wa website has lots of advert on recruitment pool but it actually doesnt exist, false advert!)instead of going straight to NSW but we will be heading to Newcastle next month, jobs all sorted!very organised compared to Wait Awhile(WA). If Newcastle won't work for us then we'll head back to Kent too after we earn loads of money. We wil be in Folkestone or Canterbury. Good luck

You're not alone, we went back last year & lasted 3 months! NHS pays me the lowest band 5 despite having years of experience;Started work( 2 days orientation & 1 clinical placement) I didn't even finish my clinical day as work conditions is just how I remembered it when we left the UK plus the pay is soo low £10.80/hr when u can earn $38.4 in NSW with much better conditions. No brainer, were happy to be back in oz!!! Good luck
  4. Hi there Claire, have you looked at going to Darwin for some contract work?Drake medox & sugarman intl are advertising all disciplines of nursing, free flights & accommodation subsidised 8-12 weeks contracts. Have you also tried joining nursewest?I had more work with them between ICU,HDU,and sometimes thrown into the ward,I was dreading going to the ward but its actually not too bad,i had 4 patients and they're all self caring which is a big bonus. If you are prepared to do general nursing than just your speciality, then i think you can work everyday with nursewest;money is better than permanent staff too.
  5. Hi there, thats true about jobs here. We've been in Perth for 3 months, there's no recruitment at the moment. I have joined a Nursing agency & they book me few weeks ahead & more than half of the shifts booked were cancelled it makes me wonder if that shift is really there. It's better now that I've joined NURSEWEST, which is equivalent to NHS professionals in the UK,shifts are more consistent with them. That recruitment pool in Rockingham is non existent, I've done shifts there & asked about it but they don't have the budget. Apparently, theres a waiting list to get in so basically I got no chance. Its very nice unit though, very british! You may find those recruitment pool positions that when you ring up,theres actually no position, i kept an eye on it every week, theres 56 nursing jobs in perth metropolitan area,i think its false advertising;they either need staff or don't; and those advertised in seek are mostly agencies which gets cancelled all the time,it rolls over every week what they advertised; stay where you are unless you got jobs sorted.
  6. We are moving interstate hopefully in April or sooner, if anyone is interested in taking over our rental in Mount Hawthorn. Its a fantastic location, 4km to Perth CBD,10mins to Kings Park & Subiaco, direct freeway access,Leederville cafe strip is very near and very good school catchment area both primary & high school( Mount Lawley & Churchlands High school). We're paying 600/week, beautiful 3 bed home all with built ins, ensuite to master,2 toilets, laundry 1 garage with direct access to house,1 bathroom, fully ducted air con, ceiling fans in all bedrooms & very low maintenance yard with covered entertainment area and outdoor storage area. If anyone is interested PM me and we can arrange a viewing. Cheers Dan.
  7. just an update,we got all our stuff no problems & we didn't declare anything even if we only had them for 3 months. Thanks for all the advice on here.
  8. Sunni,we are off to Adelaide this time.We used to live in NSW before just 2 hours south of Sydney.
  9. Thanks guys, they pack our stuff today. Im taking the plunge not to declare anything or maybe just little things. We are moving to different part of Oz this time and we can't wait!!!
  10. Hi all,we're in big dilemma here with AQIS form. We have been back for 3 months in the UK but decided to go back to Oz.We shipped some of our stuff from Australia & kept in storage as we decided to go back after starting work & it didn't work out here. We bought new sofas, dining table, beds & other small kitchen stuff. Do people here declare goods under 12 months?I'm a bit weary as we are returning back after just staying here for 3 months, customs might check thoroughly if im unlucky. I would have just not declare anything because they can't prove it. I can just say that those furnitures were given to us by relatives as they dont look brand new anyway. How do people here go with these situation?Surely it can't be just us who return in a flash!!!!please help

  13. Hi folks, Please can anybody advise on the quickest way to get a nursing job in Adelaide. I am a mental health nurse and my wife is an ICU nurse. Can anyone recommend a nursing agency. I heard that people emailed the hospitals directly, does anybody have a contact email for any of these hospitals as it seems that all the recruitment is now done through SA health website and they don't have any vacancies at present. We are desperate to get back to Oz ASAP! Any help would be very much appreciated. Kindest regards. Dan

  15. Hi Blobby hows it going mate hope your well, we have read your posts before sorry to hear things didn't work out for you there. Now we are back we realise we came back for all the wrong reasons (won't go into that). I am not posting on here to ask if we should go back as we know that already. Just wanted to share our experience. Did you not consider going elsewhere? Oz is a big place and surely can't be bad everywhere?
