  1. Glad you are settling back in. I read your post whilst drinking my coffee on the sofa this morning (only an instant coffee I'm afraid). Anyway, we are waiting on my husband's visa so have been experiencing a few sleepless nights whilst we wait in limbo. Your post made me chuckle and I hope we will follow in your footsteps soon! Best wishes to you and your fur kids!
  2. Thank you both for your responses! I think I'm getting myself worked up about nothing. I'm sure she will be fine and I'll speak with the vet before they come! Thanks again!
  3. Hello everyone, we submitted my husbands UK settlement visa application on line on 18 March and the evidence and appendix on 31 March via the new scanning process in Brisbane. We paid for priority and would hope to hear something soon. I understand that each application is different but was wondering whether anyone else has used the priority service recently, and how long it took to receive the decision. Thanks very much.
  4. Hello everyone, we are taking our cat back to the UK shortly and her rabies jab is due soon. I've been concerned about the vaccine ever since looking at the side effects on the internet (probably shouldn't have looked), in regards to it causing cancerous tumours and having a higher risk of a bad reaction following the jab. I know its a must if she is to come with us, I guess I'm just seeking some reassurance from those who have had it done. Like most of you, we love our cat dearly, so naturally worry. Thanks to anyone who responds.
  5. I believe if its from the sale of a house, you do not need to wait for a number of months. I would recommend you apply for your childrens British passports before you apply for the visa (unless you are in a hurry), that way it will only be your wife who will need a visa to enter the UK, and will keep the amount of money you need to sow you have down as it goes up with each child. You'll probably need either the spouse settlement visa or the one where you apply to join a family member settled in the UK (then you all arrive together). Its a bit confusing, but in terms of lead-times, I think its around 6 weeks but there is an express option which you obviously need to pay more for. Good luck.
  6. Hi River I hope your application to return to the UK is going well. I think we are a few weeks behind you! Please could you let me know whether you decided to go with the 'Join a family member settled in the uk' visa, or the 'Settlement spouse' visa? We are a little confused as to which is the correct one, we started filling out the settlement spouse visa but now not so sure? We did however note that the accommodation section asked for a family or hotel name so at least we know we can just book a holiday rental for when we arrive. A bit risky in the sense that if we don't get the visa approved we still have to pay for the accommodation, but we decided we would just go for a holiday to visit family! Where are you moving back to? We've been here for 8 years and decided to move back home )
  7. Hi River we just know a place close to my parents that we rented the last time we went back for a visit. There are plenty of websites though for holiday rentals, I'm just not sure they accept this form of accommodation. The guidelines seem a bit vague.
  8. Hello everyone, I just wanted to seek some advice on how others have satisfied the spouse visa accommodation requirements. We are applying to return to the UK but do not have family or friends who have the room to accommodate our family of four. We were going to book a 3 month holiday cottage (with a view to finding a more suitable place to rent when we arrive) but I'm not sure this is acceptable. Surely you are not expected to enter into a property lease before the visa is granted? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank you.
