Yes thank you. Just got caught short yesterday being in the ocean for a good hour. Was only there 2 hours total but shows you how strong it is. Will have to be more liberal with applying it throughout the time being there.

I am aware of the differences between temperature and UV level i just meant recover temperature wise while i sit around but thank you. Yer the kids have those rashies as you call them, they was absolutely fine. As i say i was the only one completely in the water and was the only one who got a little burned.

Thats good advice about the sunscreen thanks for that. We was only there for a couple of hours and covered ourselves and the kids where all covered thankfully so they are fine. I was in the ocean for a while tho so that was probably what did it. Lesson learned for next time. Thankfully looks a little cooler over the coming days so i can recover

Thanks, hopefully with us offering similar we might land this one we applied for. We have kept our house in the UK as well for a similar reason. See what areas we like and suit us and how we go when the time comes to buy.

We have been out of quarantine since Tuesday this week and its been a whirlwind of getting stuff sorted. We managed to sort a lot in quarantine such as sim cards and TFN's. I had a couple of job interviews and have one tomorrow, have also been offered two positions just narrowing down which one suits and we was lucky as my wife already had a job to come to. Straight out we sorted our banking first day, driving licences after that and medicare. Wife had inductions and we picked our new car up on Friday that we bought in quarantine. We are staying with friends which is lucky, as we went to look at a rental and it was crazy. We are in a fortunate position and offered slightly more a week than advertised and offered to pay the full 12 months upfront but I still don't know if that will clinch it. Was happy when the weekend came so we could catch our breath for two days, although typical pom sunburnt on first trip to the beach and was only there two hours and put loads of cream on so going to have to be extra careful in future. How did you guys get on with rentals? And good luck with the job hunt!

Hi everyone, We fly to Perth on the 8th of November with Singapore Airlines. I was wondering if anyone had travelled recently and could just confirm this checklist I have to make sure I haven't missed anything before our flight. Been a long time waiting to travel and had a recent scare with the introduction of VTL flights as we was on one, and our kids obviously aren't vaccinated (3 and 5) had to change the first leg after a few days of struggle, only to be then told they can now go on the flight with a vaccinated adult was very frustrating and we have ended up with a longer stop over at Singapore. Anyway here is what I have let me know if you think I have missed anything TIA: Visa Exemption PCR tests (48 hours for Singapore) Australian Travel declaration G2G pass for WA Have i missed anything for transiting through Singapore I have read everything and I'm sure I haven't but just wanted someone else's experience thanks !

How long before did you do your G2G pass Jon? Our flight is November didn't know when to start it that's all.

Really is a tough spot atm. Who was your flight with? Can't you work on the 'Bank' for a bit while you are waiting for your next flight to tie you over? Our flight isn't until November wife gave 8 weeks as well which is now up but she just picks up shifts all the time. Don't know if your hospital is the same or other hospitals around you?

So 48 hours before entering Singapore, does the 72 hour rule still apply for when you transit through to Australia still?

Bound to get one at some point though even if we have to stay with friends longer than anticipated. If you have to pay a little more it is what it is. What else are we supposed to do? Cancel our flight, not move at all as we might not be able to find a rental straight away? I've seen plenty of people move over recently and secure properties, albeit after a few attempts. You're just going to have to compromise, house a bit smaller, further out etc. until the time is right. Biggest worry atm is actually getting on the flight there. Luckily we are in a position where the only thing that effects us is time and nothing else but it is boring just sitting around waiting to go.

Yer I am aware. Sure to get one at some point though and we could pay a year up front if we had to try and secure one. Obviously if the crisis is that bad and we can't get in the area we want you just look elsewhere for the time being. We are still in the UK at the moment. Fly on the 8th of November...hopefully! My wife is a Nurse and it was her that got the visa. You need the ANMAC to secure your visa I think. Once she had the visa she then started her APHRA registration. Then she applied for jobs and got one, got contract etc. then applied for exemption to travel and it was granted.

Any others you would recommend or have good knowledge about @Paul1Perth? Our flight out there is in November, staying with friends for a month while we get set up. Daughter will start school in January as well. She's had a year and half here so far but will be first year over there, she's only 5. We are looking North of the river Hillary's upwards. Commute doesn't matter to me as I will be FIFO as well most of the time. Wife is a nurse but will be agency for a while so not attached to one place and not working loads either so commute not too important. Just looking for a quiet area, good for kids with good schools, close'ish to the beach. Renting for a few years first, then once settled and have PR. It's the 491 Visa we have. Plan on then selling our UK house and buying here but wanted to rent in an area where we would look to buy. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What is a soulless suburb then? Because I think I need it explaining to me. I'm thinking our definitions of quiet and soulless differ quite a lot. Everyone is different and at different stages within their life. I'm young, have a young family. Couldn't pay me £200,000 a year to live in London, Manchester, Birmingham and places like that, dumps if you ask me. I once got offered a big contract to work in the Congo, didn't take it obviously, but probably would have over some big cities. Might sound strange, some people just like to go to work, come home in a quiet neighborhood, walk on the beach and do the odd activity at the weekend. Surely more expensive to move back to the UK rather than try somewhere else first? I agree the move isn't for everyone and some maybe shouldn't have made the move in hindsight, but they will never know unless they try. End of the day its only money and you rebuild. Granted it becomes more difficult the older you get. @HappyHeart I prefer the stairway version rather than Shakespeare "All that glitters is gold"

Yes I agree people usually just have a knee jerk reaction and move back to the UK rather than moving in Australia. Like you say good and bad suburbs everywhere, guess it’s what your used to!
