  1. Hi InnerVoice, thank you for the reply. Yes, a rural posting in a new country and one as massive as Australia would be a big struggle with a young family. I have emailed the QPS recruitment asking if international recruits are de facto assigned to specific areas, that way I can start to research about the possible posting locations. Unfortunately policing in England is very much a losing game. I can handle the criminality and the victims, what I have found deflating is the complete lack of punishment for serial offenders, the constant and deliberate sabotaging of our role by the government and the prosecutors to prevent us from putting offenders before the court as they are "too busy and the prisons too full" all the while being forced to deal with offensive Facebook posts over burglaries, drugs, criminal damage etc. I'm hoping to speak to officers who can give me information about the logistics of how police there investigate and prosecute crime and what the general sentencing 'culture' is with the courts.
  2. Greetings, any UK bobbies considering the move? I sent their recruitment an email asking some basic questions but if others have any information/advice to share, perhaps we can make this topic a bit of a resource hub for applicants/hopefuls. I've been in 9 years and was actually hoping for a recruitment drive back in 2016/17/18 (after which I sort of gave up hope). I'm now married with 2 children and recently bought a house, so ideally I would have really preferred to move 2-3 years ago, but it is what it is. Anyone here a former UK cop or knows any former UK cops who are officers in Queensland and can offer any info on what the basic differences are in daily operational duties would be greatly appreciated. Kinds regards.
  3. You 're welcome. Good luck with your test :-)
  4. Hi Sarah, sorry, they were already snapped up so we both missed out :-(
  5. Cheers :-) I was thinking that was the case as I've read a few posts on here and elsewhere, with people stating they updated their EOI with more points prior to getting an invitation and never heard anyone adivse or warm them against it.
  6. She ha claimed points for IELTS which she has received. If she resits the IELTS and gets more points on it, can she not just update the EOI with those extra points and the IELTS reference? Does it need to be a brand new EOI?
  7. Urgent help how? She has submitted and expression of interest for both the 189 and the 489 with 60 and 65 points respectively, 10 of thos epoints from her IELTS results. I mis-spoke when I said she has applied as that could suggest we have received an invitation to apply. We still are waiting on on invitation to apply for both visas.
  8. Hi guys, my partner's applied for a 189 with 60 points but is looking to get an extra 10 from attaining the full 20 from the IELTS. So far she's had 3 attempts at the genereal and has just missed out on the 8 on reading and writing, so she was wondering if given how the academic will be more focused on her scientific knowledge (she's a biomedical engineer), she might end up doing better. She's had her qualifications assessed and accredited and they body has stated she doesn't actually need the academic IELTS. Does this mean she can choose either of them, or has to do the general? Many thanks for anyone who can shed some light. Cheers.
  9. Hi, I can take those off your hands :-) I'll send you a private message about them.
  10. So does that change things? I'm looking for a transfer down near her and hope to get it on the next 4-5 months.
  11. My partner has applied for a PR skilled visa and I'm a dependant partner.
  12. Hi again, thanks for the replies. My partner and I don't own any property together, however I'm looking to transfer down near her in the next 4-5 months. I'm currently a serving Police Officer in Scotland and Lancashire Police, which is a commutable distance from Liverpool where my partner will be working are accepting transferees, and they 've advised me it usually takes about 3 months from submitting the application to getting the transfer, so hopefully I'll be down there fro October/November. In the meantime, I will be staying in the flat we rent together and keeping her on the lease and council tax. I will be going down to see her by train at leats once every month and will be keeping both the printouts of the tickets as well as the receipts and be taking lots of pictures etc. Is there anything else anyone would advise?
  13. Hey guys, quick question. My partner and I have submitted our expression of interest (I'm added on as her partner) and she's just been offered a job in England (we are currently living in Scotland). If she takes it it will mean moving down south while I stay in Scotland for my work. Is this something that will effect our visa applciation? Do we need to update it that we are not cohabiting due to professional/job related circumstances? Thanks for your time.
