  1. Thanks everyone for the replys im guessing these reviews are just moaners that will pick at the most tiny of things!! family have said they love living there and its lovely... i was just bit nervous at these reviews on the homely site but obviously just a moaner! we intend to start in richmond however think we may travel and check out some places before we properly settle in one spot. got 2 years until the eldest starts school so we would like to settle in time for that.. cant help but be tempted with coffs harbour rental prices are brilliant there and to be by coast just such a long way from richmond. we arent the very city going sort of people... a supermarket will do me fine and the odd visit to a city as a day out but it doesnt really appeal to me... has anyone experienced coffs harbour?
  2. Hi everyone, my husband, my two boys, dog and I are moving to Richmond May 2017 to stay with family until we get on our feet and then will rent. iv been trying to look up the areas but struggle to find much info from people that actually live in Richmond however have read some horrendous reviews for south Windsor that mention Richmond is the same. iv read crime is bad and it's horrendous to live in all of these suburbs? considering we have family there with businesses etc I can't imagine it being as bad as these reviews were! so I was just wondering if anyone can give me their opinions of the area and where is good around Richmond for renting which is good for the kids too. I definately don't want to be where lots of crime where you can't feel safe! Am I just reading silly reviews from grumpy moaners?
  3. i have found there price much easier to understand also as i dont understand why petair are saying they are unable to book quarantine and it seems to add up!
  4. Hello thanks for getting back to me. I do find that they are cheaper than the others please let me know how it all goes sooner to themt ime and once you have your dog with you id really appreciate it. i hope it all goes well
  5. Oh thank you very much that would be brilliant much appreciated xx
  6. Hi everyone, I have two children who will be 1 years old and 3 years old, there is also myself and my husband and also our miniature yorkie coming too! We have chosen Richmond because my husbands family are there. I just wanted to know if anyone else on here live in Richmond or if they have visited Richmond! We have had a very difficult year so starting somewhere new is very exciting for us and I hope my 3 year old can make some friends and have some activities to do as he is very lonely wherre we are at the moment! Any advice/opinions would be a great help thanks all
  7. Hi everyone we are looking to ship our little dog oscar to australia next year. we have had quotes of alot of people but tranfur seem to be the best they also seem to be the most friendliest and quickest to answer questions but just wondering if anyone else has used them as the only reccomendations i can see are from 2012 thanks
  8. Hi can I ask was it 1800 after the refund or before the refund? And how bigger container was that for? Yes I'd like to send the boys beds buts if taken apart I can't imagine them actually taking much space up with them being cotbeds also was it just the one settee? The things I'd definately like to take is the two settees, tv, one king size bed and 2 cotbeds. And then my husband would want to take some of his workshop bits tools etc.
  9. How much did the 40ft container cost if you don't mind me asking Joji? We have a 2 bedroom house so I don't know if we would need a 40ft container I don't know what size we would need
  10. Iv read the horror stories about flying an animal over was big mistake... I worry with him being so tiny and to be honest our oscar is a bit of of a pampered pooch we made the mistake of treating him like a baby before our kids arrived how he will cope with the food and no 4 star accodation I don't know lol Millie is a brilliant name by the way (that's me!)
  11. Wow you are taking a huge leap I wish we could do that! How big are your dogS? We are shipping oscar our miniature yorkie and I'm so worried ... he's 1.9 kilos. I'm dreading it
  12. To be honest ill be very surprised if my parents both visited.. they are very .. we love england and dont have the adventurous drive i have to explore different parts of the world and they hate plane journeys.. iv always been very independent and done my own thing hence why i think the "missing friends and family" will be something that wont effect me as i live far away from my family now... but the idea of them coming over for few weeks would be ideal lol. Anyone give any advice for planning the move? i dont know where to start and ideally i just want to get out there asap. we cant rent our house until beginning of the new year unfortunately otherwise id be selling, packing moving asap. i have a child thats 1 in march and a 3 year old and im completely confused on where to start with the whole taking stuff over! i dont know wether to get a large cube thing iv seen mentioned and take all my boys stuff so they are not upset when we get there as my 3 year old LOVES his bed and to not worry about the sofas etc.. or move everything! what to do
  13. Hi all, I've been posting quite a few threads recently in the excitement of us being granted our visa which states we have to step foot into oz before may 25th. The original plan was to go over just after christmas and then come back and carry on sorting out the dog stuff to ship him over and putting our house up for rent etc however i think going over for couple weeks then coming back to sort stuff is a waste of money that could be going towards the move itself and also alot for a 1 year old and 3 year old to do (one return trip then a one way trip few months later) Moving is a whole new thing to me as the only move iv ever done is from the south of england to the north as a wreckless youngen with no responsibilities carrying nothing but a bag of clothes... with having responsibilities of our children and the husband it isnt as easy and i think its fair to say this move will be much bigger My question is... Do we ship EVERYTHING household wise... beds, cupboards, drawers wardrobes kitchen appliances (dishwasher, coffee machine) sofas tvs and all the smaller things to box.... toys etc... or do we sell everything for barely anything as second hand things sell for pennys and start again? and how much would it cost to ship EVERYTHING. I personally think with having our young boys... toys and there belongings like there beds would be a must as i want them to not get to confused about the move and still have their belongings and their beloved dog! so either way we are going to have to get some things shipped. wether that be a large cube thing iv seen mentioned on this site and also.. being a bit childish.. but i really dont want to give up my coffee machine! lol I'm trying to write a list to work out what money we need and what we need to do but i feel completely confused with where to start! luckily we have family to stay with when we arrive however intend to get our own place once my husband has got a job. Any advice and approx prices and experiences would be brilliant. thanks all x
  14. found out this morning we have been granted the visa YAAAAY oz here we come!
  15. Thanks everyone for replying its been really interesting reading your posts! we choose to go to richmond NSW as we already have family there... we received the amazing news this morning our visa has been granted! im so happy to be able to start a new life and have a more outdoorsy lifestyle as thats what we love... When i told my 3 year old we were going to move to australia his response was a huge scream and "we going to australia thats where nemo and dory live!" although i know we will be a journey from the coast however i am from the south west and love the countryside however my husband is a city boy in the north whos always wanted to live "in the middle of no where" australia is a dream come true! it will be an adventure for us all. so any advice and info would be a great help! food tends to be a small issue with my 3 year old as he has a dairy allergy so eating out is normally a no go anyway and trying to find a dairy free milk that he would drink was very difficult in finding. im mostly intrigued by what people miss and love about england and australia its interesting to see peoples opinions and views and to get a better picture of what it is like. I live over 250 miles away from my family and friends at this moment and get to see them about 5 times a year travel down on fri evening and leave sunday morning... no time at all really.. so im used to being away from them and i do think if they came to visit for 2 weeks of a year thats probably more quallity time that what we get now as we are always so exhausted from travelling for 5/6 hours x
