  1. Hey guys, Just after some advice, I have two questions, i've searched for the answers but haven't had much luck! I'm planning to apply in the next couple of days for my 820 partner visa, I'm currently on a working holiday visa that is due to expire at the start of March, My first question is, if submit my application for the 820 in the next couple of days, I understand I'll be granted a bridging visa straight away but this doesn't come into effect until the WHV expires.. Does this mean that I can leave the country before my working holiday expires in March and return on my WHV without having to apply for the B Bridging visa? Just as my current job is requiring me to travel.. Also, i don't know if you have any idea of the current processing times for the Form 1445 for me to extend past the 6 months on my working holiday, currently i will have been employed for 6 months at the start of Feb, work want to keep me on, so i'm hoping to have this approved due to the pending visa application or i will have to leave work for 5 weeks.. Do you have any idea how long these generally take to be approved? I'll be giving myself about 3 weeks.. Do you think this will be sufficient? Thanks Brad
  2. Hey all, I'm getting everything together ready to apply for my partner visa (820) and just wanted to clarify a couple of things, sorry there a bit basic i just couldnt find the answers! So, i'm applying online, i understand I have to submit Form 47SP and then my permanent resident partner has to submit Form 40SP, I'm just confused as the start of the application looks like this... So, do i complete "Stage 1" (which im assuming is Form 47SP?!) and then my partner completes the top "Sponsorship for a Partner to Migrate to Australia" (which im assuming is Form 40SP), is that correct? Once stage 1 is completed and paid for, i've heard the bridging visa comes through straight away, is that also correct? Also, once stage 1 has been completed, does my partner complete his part on my Immi account, or do they have to do it on there own? And how soon after stage one is completed does my partner need to complete there part? Any help would be really appreciated! Thanks
  3. Thanks for the reply Mark, That's great, i'll certainly look into doing that.. In terms of the Form 1445 being approved, my work would like me to stay on and are more than willing to extend/make me permanent, i'm not sure if they would be able to claim its for important reasons though, i work in a client support job for an advertising agency.. Do you think the fact that i'd have a bridging visa that comes into effect 4 weeks later along with a letter from them confirming there wanting to extend me would be sufficient enough for them to approve it? If that makes sense? Or is it more of an exceptional circumstances type? Also i understand the bridging visa won't come into effect until the working holiday expires, but will i still be emailed/sent it as soon as i lodge my partner visa? Just so i can show it to my work to prove that's what i'll be going onto? One other question also, would registering our relationship in Victoria and sending that certification in the visa application be beneficial? Thanks!
  4. Hi all, Just looking for some advice, I'm currently out in Australia on a working holiday with my partner, we've been together 4 years and moved over from the UK together. He's a permanent resident through his family and I'm getting together all the documents to apply for my partner visa, 820. My understanding is once the applications submitted i'll be granted a bridging visa.. My working holiday visa expires 1 March, however I'm currently employed on a 6 month contract (due to the working holiday visa rules) and my work contract is due to expire on the 2nd Feb.. My work want to extend me... So my question is, are they allowed to do that once I have my bridging visa or do I need to wait for my working holiday to expire before the bridging visa comes into effect? So would i just be able to stay on past the 6 months once I have the bridging visa or would I have to leave and return once the working holidays expired? Hopefully that makes sense?
  5. Thanks for the reply! Okay great, thats cleared a few things up for me.. I think we'll most likely just apply ourselves and avoid an agent, I didn't notice the partner visa thread i'll check that now, Yeah they recognise de facto relationships in Victoria, i was just a bit sceptical about registering now though, because i feel like they'd look at the date we "officially" registered as de facto and go off that.. Do you not think that would be the case though? I've got plenty of receipts/evidence of holidays we've been on together years ago and tenancy agreements so I should be able to put forward quite a strong case.. Also, when i'm on the bridging visa, whats the situation with leaving the country and returning? Are you allowed to leave and return?
  6. Hey guys, Just looking for some guidance! I'm currently in Australia on a working holiday visa, i've been with my partner who is a PR (through his family) for 3 years now, we've previously lived together in the UK and moved to Melbourne around 6 months ago and so we are looking to apply for a partner visa, We'll be applying as a "de facto" couple, as far as i understand once we've submitted the application and my working holiday visa ends, i'll automatically go onto a bridging visa, is that correct? Once i'm on the bridging visa, am i able to work without any restrictions, or will the working holiday "6 month rule" still apply? Also, it seems you apply for the 820 first, which is the temporary partner visa, however as it will be almost 4 years we've been together by the time a decision is made, it there anyway it can go straight to permanent (801), or does it always go to temporary first regardless of the time we've been together? Also, would you guys recommend going through an agent or would you just do it yourself? Obviously you can lodge the application online but a lot of people seem to prefer posting a hard copy, is there a reason for this? Sorry for all the questions! Thanks for your help,
