  1. I found that I needed academic for the nursing itself but just for the visa I used the general ielts test as I got a higher score in that one so it bumped my points up.
  2. I didn't realise that was the case, however we have looked at more expensive houses online. I think we will definitely be looking in person, but also we have a contact in Cairns who is checking out the potential houses for us.
  3. thanks, that does sound positive. I will keep searching.
  4. Glad you got sorted. Sounds like finding the right place and pushing is the way forward thanks.
  5. wow, sydney definately sounds like a huge challenge. I'm hoping Cairns is a little bit easier. How did you manage in the end? Did that one agent help you get somewhere?
  6. It sounds amazing if Cairns works a little differently. I think we have settled on moving to a hostel whilst we have a look around Cairns to find the property we want, hopefully by then I will have proof of a job anyway but if we just need proof of being able to pay that sounds better. Do you know which particular companies will accept this? This has been really helpful thanks.
  7. thanks, it does seem like it will be a challenge.
  8. My husband and I have been granted a permanent residency visa and we are looking to move to Cairns in March. I am wondering if it is possible to rent straight away when we first arrive and how we would go about doing this? Also what evidence do we need? Everywhere seems to say proof of a job. Do I need to have worked shifts in the job or just prove that I will have an income in the country? Thanks
  9. thanks for this, this was very useful and helped get my application fast tracked through higher points.
  10. good to know about the roads thanks
  11. Hi I have recently done the health checks for the visa 189 in Sutton Coldfield. It cost £725 for two adults and was very thorough. We didn't do much research on other places as we were working to a deadline so just chose the closest, fastest appointment. Costs also vary depending on what blood tests or investigations are needed depending on the job role you have applied via. Also not everyone may need the same tests which will also vary the costs.
  12. Thanks for the info. I have family that live there also that say it is too hot and humid in some months but the rest of the time it is so worth it. When I visited I also loved Kuranda and the sky rail and port Douglas. I would potentially like to live somewhere in the middle of the two.
  13. Thanks, we inputed the general IELTs results and we have now been invited to apply
  14. Sorry for the late reply, thanks for the information. We have just submitted our EOI. hoping it doesnt take too long.
  15. quick question if anyone can help please. I am a nurse and I have had to do the academic IELTs for the ANMAC assessment, however I did the general IELTs exams first and achieved higher results in this. for the 189 visa could I use my general IELTs test results even though I had to use the academic for the ANMAC? Or do I need to be consistent and use the same results? Using the general test results would get me an extra 10 points in the points test.
