  1. So if my application date was July 2014, and I have not heard from a case worker yet, that means it will be next year (2017) before they start to work on my case?
  2. Thanks for the quick reply Ken! Actually I don't watch TV, I just use the flatscreen for streaming movies and dramas from my computer. And $30 is not much if everything will work ok with it. My concern is with the 60 to 50 hz. Because the TV is not motorized like a food processor, it will be ok? Apparently for appliances it can cause burn out. owl
  3. I'm moving from South Korea to Brisbane hopefully in a few months, waiting for CPV. My TV is an LG, 220/60 hz. Do I need a transformer and should I try to get it in SK before I get to OZ? How about my Yamaha keyboard (220/60)? Thanks for help!
  4. I applied for the Temp CPV in July 2014 but have heard nothing from immigration since they received the application. Originally I was told it would take 24 months for granting. I also understand that now the timing is 25 or 26 months. For me, next month - July - will be my 24th month. I'm wondering if I shouldn't have heard from them by now, given that the 26 month will be September. So my question is "how long does it take from the time they contact me for health check, police clearance, etc until the visa is granted?" My work contract and apartment will both discontinue at the end of August and if the visa is not granted by then, I'm trying to figure out the best place to be while I wait for the visa and for how long it might be. I have already received my police clearance (in the US we call it an FBI Background Check.)
  5. Hi again, Does anyone know the average time it takes for a Temp CPV to be granted after immigration makes the initial contact (once they are actually working on one's application), if background check is already completed? Thanks, owl
  6. I'm waiting for my temp CPV, but curious about whether there will be another health check between the temporary and permanent CPVisas. Also, if someone actually gets sick while on the temp visa, could the permanent visa be refused for that reason?
  7. Hi George, I'm a CPV applicant, applied in 7/2014. What is the "allocation date for final processing"? Is that the date that the case is opened for a case worker to start working on it? Other question: Currently I am in South Korea and my work contract will end in August. Could I go to Australia on a tourist visa, and when they are ready to approve the CPV leave the country and return to activate the CPV? How long before they approve the visa do I have to be out of the country? Thanks for your help! owl
  8. I know there is a webpage that will post the current visa applications being approved. Mine is a CPV, and I applied in July 2014. I'm curious as to where they are in the processing.
  9. What type of health care coverage and insurance are available for new CPV holders? I'm expecting my visa to come in July.
  10. Hi Val, I'm American, not Brit! But I will look further on the IMMI page to see if there is any information. When I applied for the CPV visa, they didn't require any apostilling of my documents that where included, so I'm hoping that it will be the same for the background check. Thanks owl (that's my real legal name)
  11. Thanks Vava. I will look for that thread. The reason I ask about apostilles is that I teach English in South Korea and our background checks must be certified by the American government (apostilled) to be valid.
  12. Do background checks have to be apostilled?
  13. Thanks very much. I have no previous criminal record unless parking tickets count. I think I'll get the police check, just in case, as it does take a long time and my fingerprints don't print well.
  14. I applied for a Contributing Parent Visa in July 2014, which means it should be approved in 3 - 4 months. I haven't heard from anyone yet. Is a background check required before talking to an Aussie agent? Some information says "you MAY be required to get a background check." as it will take 15 weeks to get the background check from my native country, should I get it now?
