  1. I'm quite enjoying it. It won't last long! I'm a tiler and it's been hard working in the continual heat and humidity. Just been for a 10km walk in the Glass House Mountains with the wife in the pouring rain and it was bliss (and still warm enough to sit on the verandah afterwards in a pair of shorts with a cold one!)...Try doing that in the UK now ?
  2. We used ISA Group. They're MARA registered and helped us successfully get our 189 visa in under 12 months. Best of luck!
  3. Food for thought on the shared container scenario for us then. I've so far been quoted between £2600-£2900 for shared and £4000-£4500 for a full/sole use container. The difference beween top whack part and lesser full being £1100 is making me weigh up if it's worth paying more for peace of mind. Shame they don't do 10ft containers!! Sorry Dean001, it doesn't help you in your situation. I hope it all comes together for you.....all the best.
  4. Really sorry to hear this, not what you need in an already stressfull time. I too am sceptical as to why they are waiting so long to fill a container....surely a well established company would be shipping multiple containers from the UK to Perth over this period? If I were you I'd take this further. Are your belongings safe or gone missing and they're stalling you? Do they have a legal obligation to complete the shipment within a certain (maximum) timescale? My wife and I are shipping our stuff from UK to Brisbane in July and are just starting to gather quotes and recommendations. We too are looking at a shared container as not bringing that much but this has worried me a bit as what we are bringing is pretty valuable (mountain bikes, my work tools etc...). I really hope everything turns out for the best and would be interested to know what the end result is. I notice the name of the company has been blanked out...are we not allowed to mention names of shipping companies to avoid or recommend?
  5. Thanks for the good advice and positive comments! It's nice & comforting to know that the work situation for the both of us should be good. I'll be sure to post some bits in the update section once we've been there a few months! In the meantime I'm sure I'll make myself heard elsewhere on here asking questions and making a general nuisance of myself!
  6. Thanks Beaty...we're so excited about our new challenge! Verystormy....she's got an advanced diploma but is in the middle of her top up now to get her degree. She can't start her AHPRA registration until we arrive in Australia but has been looking into working as a healthcare support worker or something similar until then.
  7. We're heading to the Sunshine Coast. The year round climate is warm (though a bit humid in the summer!) and I have a couple of contacts there who tell me the construction industry is pretty lively at the moment and there are quite a few new suburbs being built which should hopefully be going for a few years. My wife's a registered nurse and there seems to be plenty of job opportunities for her too. If anyone's got any useful information on work in these industries (I'm a tiler, as I said the wife's a nurse) on the Sunshine Coast then I'm all ears!
  8. Hi All! Being a frequent visiter to this site over the past few months and making the most of all the great information on offer it's about time I said Hi! Having spent a year in Oz on a working holiday visa back in 2009/2010 I fell head over heels in love with the country and promised myself to make it home asap. On my return to the UK I met my now wife who for a number of years had to put up with me telling her what a 'great idea' it would be to up sticks, leave family, friends and everything she's become attached to and move to the other side of the planet!! Our honeymoon spent in a campervan on the east coast sealed the deal for her after she fell in love with Oz too! So with a lot of determination we were finally granted our 189 visa a few months ago off the back of my tiling trade. We've just booked our flights and can't wait til July 2017 when we arrive Down Under to start our new lives together! Australia here we come!!! :arghh:
