  1. Northampton- Queensland 1st oct. It's a big place but not pin pointed Final destination.
  2. Cheers everyone. I know it's going to come round quick. Too quick probably as lots to sought but that's the best way sometimes. Im not thinking of a commute from GC or SC as I have worked out that the commute is at times crazy. The m1 there as is here a headache when something goes wrong. Was pretty much thinking of staying central to start then pushing out slightly north or south once we got a few things rolling. ive had a year out there many moons ago so we are not going in totally blind but with a family of 4 know it's a whole new ball game. My boys are sports CRAZZZZZY. Footy mad. I'm also the eldest football coach so want to slot him into something pretty sharpish if possible as he's doing REALLY well here so want him to carry on with what he loves. My youngest is also playing but seems to take his hand to any sports. Both play tennis too so that would also be something we will eventually like to keep going once funds start coming back in the accounts. We are not shipping big container at the moment looking into the idea of maybe a MOVECUBE size shipment. Do people bring items such as Washing machines/printers/hovers and either run off travel plug or is it possible to wire Aus plugs to items. Only say this as just had to buy new washer. Not bringing large items like wardrobes sofas or beds. Hope the heats not been too much for you been polaropposite here the last couple of weeks. kind regards JAMIE
  3. Had our 189PR visas granted in Oct and this week we've booked our flights for 30th Sept to Brisbane. Not 100% pin pointed our area to land and find our feet. Was drawn towards heading towards Sunshine Coast but now maybe Gold Coast side of the city. I Know the main thing is to land them jobs ASAP and then find longer term rental in an area we decide. Coming out with two very energetic boys (9&5). Im a carpenter 15 years and wife works in Banking at the moment but has dedicated herself to become a recently Qualified personal trainer.(thinking of the big move) Any tips you have throw my way. I have been doing heaps of research. Brothers in Melbourne and know a few guys in Queensland but nobody in and around Brizzy. Apart from friends sister who I will be tapping up for tips. thought I'd share our news of FLIGHTS BOOKED As friends/family don't get toooo excited when u tell them. Exciting times and nerve racking times too. Let the adventure begin.
  4. Have you looked on Air B+B app. Just a thought. Maybe a bit more expensive but you could book a week or 2 then go from there. I've been looking. Loads on there with all types of budgets.
  5. Yes i used Gomatilda. All went very smooth. Have been a great help with OUR process.
  6. Today I got the email to confirm our 189PR has been granted. i was shell shocked. Happy as Larry. The big master plans coming together. scary, exciting, adventurous times ahead. Time to make the BIG PLANS
  7. Well done. I just got mine too. Pretty much all the same as you but I'm a carpenter. 189 granted TODAY. Get in there.
  8. I dream to look over the big city, my nightmare is hanging off a cliff with the city lights behind me knowing the branch will def snap. I just like positivity. It's got me thus far. I will agree so it doesn't start a debate. if someone is going for an interview............... i would say try your best,be positive and I hope it goes well for you. Rather than, you will probably fail if you say or do the wrong thing or your just not good enough. Good luck to everyone. My wife and I travelled and ended up living in Wellington(NZ)10 years ago. 1 day we said shall we go home. We returned to uk. Timing wasn't right.( Couldn't get another visa for Aus as I had already used my Working holiday visa.) We had and adventure, came home, learnt, lived ,gained a family. Life is strange , these adventures make us who we are. You will gain more from lessons/mistakes than 10 years of routine .That's only my opinion. I hope hope my Dream is a good one, if not i did try and will always follow my dreams. My ultimate dream would be premium bonds win the day after my lotto tickets came in. I would never stop travelling and would want my kids to see the world and be happy ever after...................... and then have a lie in and realise, damn it was another dream.
  9. Yes I like this comment as some people like to dream. My kids dream of going to legoland. We took them last wk to start our bucket list uk b4 we leave. Lots of people like to on here seem to try and knock peoples confidence. Keep dreaming and have to ignore some peoples negativity. Obviously some people like to give opinions and really try and help. Love that. Good luck. I dream for a lay in 2moro , not had one for about 5 years but I do dream.
  10. Hi Potters. I'm also Carpenter so if I can help in anyway. Please Holla. The economy out there is struggling in certain cities/states. ive done my skills test/English test etc so have advice to help. I had technical interview after supplying all relevant info before hand. I would suggest s a start getting a few references and if been self employed you will need few years of bank statements. Need to get lots of documents certified. Passports, trade papers, references, bank statements etc etc. inbox me any questions. Cheers jamie
  11. Hi there. I'm using Go Matilda. Been all pretty plain sailing and very stress free but obviously you pay for the service so it should be easier. I've sent final application for 189 visa. Waiting to hear back. Been 2 months now but in no particular rush as not looking to go until this time next year. Hopefully will hear soon. I would say with determination and plenty of research and obviously this website you could do it yourself. ive had friends just been told after 2 years of trying that it's a no go. They never had agent and crossed many different paths before hitting a huge wall. Everbody has a different story/situation. ive done all my medicals /police checks and skills assesments etc. me the wife and 2 boys 8+ 5. Happy to chat or help in any way. good luck. JAMIE
  12. Cheers for replies guys. . It was one of those questions I put out there as I often think would I take a holiday to activate visas and then save some more pennies after more info gathered. I've visited Aus a number of times. Drove around much of it especially east coast many years ago. (1998) . Been out to see my bro a couple of times in Melbourne too. I absolutely loved my time out there but I also know a wife and 2 boys is totally different ball game. I'm not going in blind as I've seen parts of the country that I Really liked. It's more of . How do you make a decision of Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth etc. I firstly ruled out places because of work. I know Perth and South Australia are struggling at the mo. Queensland has ticked many boxes for me as I'm not a massive fan of Melbourne or Sydney mainly due to cost and also not a BIG city person. I lived in sydney(Coogee) as a backpacker way back when and loved it. This time I'm thinking of life with my family. Queensland is a massive state. How do you choose area. Harvey bay I know you would struggle to find a job. Or Rockhampton is this the place?????. Or is it better to be safer and be within 30 ~45 mins of Brisbane and 1stly secure work and then maybe branch out. Or do you decide on 1 area and go all out and make it work in that place. It's a question that I'll never get the answer but all your comments do help PROS and CONS all the way.Kindest regards JAMIE
  13. I took VARIOUS documents to and from soliciter to certify. I was charged around £40 the 1st time. I never did pay slips as I did bank statements so would have been less to sign. Had o go back with the odd document. Passport driving licence etc but all went through well. Should be able to sign as a bulk I would have thought. if they wrote I'm signing ALL 47 payslips in bulk. They can quickly stamp each one if they are kind enough. done my skills assesment and was all pretty straight forward. jamie
  14. Hi there I know everyone's completely different. And that goes for circumstances and the individuals. I keep saying to my wife about possible recce once and if we get the all clear but she says she does not want to waste the money going on a recce. She would like to just go for it even though this is all going on my trade. Would you say a recce helps you ALOT or can confuse the matter. So far I've move from different cities/states to decide on probably queensland /Brisbane area. Who's done a recce and are glad they did or who went for it and moved around as they never did. Silly questions I suppose but every little helps
  15. Yesterday. The wife and my boys all went for our medicals. Police checks sent so hitting the last few steps. Getting scarier
