  1. Thanks for your replies. In hindsight that would have been the best option but she was living with her Dad and was adamant Australia wasn't for her. She's since decided to study languages and has been coming to visit in her holidays and realised Australia would open up all sorts of opportunities whilst allowing us to spend more time together.
  2. Hi All...looking for some guidance please. I currently have my temporary partner visa (via prospective marriage option), am living in Oz with my husband (who is a permanent resident and is my sponsor). I'm a British Citizen and my dependent 19 year old daughter, who is currently studying at uni in London has decided she would like to have the option to reside and work in Australia. I have been asked today for further info regarding stage 2 of my partner visa...my question is: processing time states 20-26 months. Should my daughter now apply for the subclass 445 as my dependent (12 month processing) and then be added to my stage 2 application? How will this work timewise and am I right in thinking that if we do this she is only eligible on the 445 until my Partner visa is finalised? Any help greatly appreciated
  3. Hello all - hoping someone in the know can help with my question. I am a British Citizen and have applied for my Partner 820 visa onshore in Australia in June 2017. I was granted a Bridging Visa B in June 2017 as I needed to return to the UK for family reasons. The terms on this visa state "must not arrive after 3 November 2017". I flew back to Australia on 20th October and will remain here for another week before having to go back to the UK again for a few months. At the moment I am unsure of when I can return to Australia in the near future (may be another six months or so). My question is can I return to the UK without applying for another bridging visa before leaving Australia and can I apply offshore when I know return dates? Many thanks in advance. Angela
  4. Thank you Snifter for your comments on my query...very helpful. Will do the name-changing at a later date I reckon!
  5. Hi All So, having moved to Australia from the UK on Prospective Marriage 300 visa we now have a wedding date for 10th June 2017. I am preparing my Partner 820/801 visa to submit in Australia as soon as I have the marriage certificate. My PMV visa expires on 20th June 2017. My question is regarding timing. I am going to the UK to see family in July/August so will I need a bridging visa B to get back into Australia?? how do I get this (unclear on border.gov.au website) and will I still be able to stay in Australia after 20th June bearing in mind it will take time to get the official marriage certificate and for my Partner visa application to be acknowledged. Thanks in advance
  6. Exactly what I wanted to know...thank you MaggieMay24 (and Snifter). Presumably the bridging visa will allow me to go in and out of Australia during that time?
  7. Hi PomsinOz I've now been granted my Prospective Marriage Visa and will leave the UK for Oz in January 2016. The visa states I have until June 2016 to get married, which we will arrange Feb/March time. So after getting married do I apply for the two-part 820 partner visa onshore? As the waiting time for this is 12-15 months will I need some other visa to enable me to stay between the end of the PMV and the granting of the 820? I've read the Partner Migration Booklet and it's not obvious...maybe someone can advise? thanks!
  8. Thank you...yes can't quite believe it! So much to organise/sell/donate/re-home (ginger cat ). Much list making to do...We'd booked marriage celebrant for end October but due to partner's work commitments will probably make it a bit later. Visa specifies it has to be within 9 months from date of grant. Fingers crossed you hear more soon!
  9. So...Yesterday was my VISA grant Day!!!! 5 months and 14 days - (one week after medical uploaded) not bad going as that includes one month of me having to sort out a medical query. Have you heard anything yet Katemav26? Maybe my Case Officer (N) will be onto yours next PMV 300 lodged 6 April 2016 London, ACRO police check July, medical 2/8/2016, grant 21/9/2016
  10. Yes did the application myself...SO much paperwork spanning decades! My partner and I first knew each other 34 years ago at school in the UK and have in the last 3 years got together (didn't know he had moved to Oz) so had to prove genuine relationship etc. Keep checking your inbox and keep busy as the time seems to pass more quickly Just FYI my medical was £320 and was arranged within 2 weeks.
  11. Am thinking they have all the info required now so hoping it's fairly soon...who knows though? I live in Leicester...been over to Melbourne 3 times during the last 2 years so am quite used to being apart from my partner but still don't like it!! We were last together in March and have provisionally set a date to get married in October but looking like we will have to postpone...living in limbo! The 70 days timescale sounded for ever at the time but it did actually take 2 months to get medical issues sorted. Have to say when I first got an e-mail from Immigration I didn't realise it was from them, thought it was spam and deleted it...ooops! I'll keep you updated on progress...let me know how you go too
  12. Hi katemav26 I've applied for this visa too from the UK...am moving to Melbourne to be with my partner. I lodged my visa by paper on 6th April 2016 and first had contact from case officer (N) at the end of June asking for a few more bits of paperwork. After sorting this I was then e-mailed to arrange a medical and police check with timescale of 70 days. Had medical at Spire, Little Aston, (can recommend) on 2nd August from which there were a few queries. Long story but ended up paying privately to get a test done to eliminate TB!! Now uploaded medical and police check so not sure now how long til grant of visa. No indication given yet...now waiting Hope this is of some help! Good to know someone else who's applying for the same visa...
  13. Hi... My situation is a little similar to yours. My daughter is 16 and just finished GCSEs in the UK. I am re-locating to Melbourne (visa permitting) and hoped she would want to come. After a few weeks holiday there and visiting schools she decided it was not for her (and I didn't want her to repeat a year). She wants to do A levels and uni in the UK. The Australian education system is very different than the UK's. If she moved to Oz with me we would have to pay international uni fees to study in the UK with no loan support. Although it will be hard and we will miss each other (she will live with her Dad) we have agreed to carry on the UK education route - she too aiming for top unis. There will always be opportunities for her to explore Australia at a later date should she wish and visit during holidays. Can't think of anything worse than living with an unhappy teenager! I think you have to let them start taking control of their own lives....
  14. Interested to read your review of Nuffield at Manchester...I also had my medical yesterday at Spire Aston Hill Hospital so thought I would recommend for anyone in the Midlands area. Cost was a little higher at £320 per adult and £220 for 16 year old (non-migrating) daughter. Nice friendly service and easily accessible by car or rail (30 mins from Birmingham New Street by rail (£4.90 return) and then 30 min walk or £5 taxi). Need to take passport, photo and emedical referral letter from HAP ID which is sent to you by Case Officer. I had medical checks by nurse and doctor, HIV test and chest X-ray. I was told the breast exam was for over 40s (optional). Daughter had the same but X-ray was not required. All went well except I have to have urine re-tested by GP...hoping nothing amiss! PMV 300 lodged 6/4/2016 Medical 2/8/2016
  15. Excited for you! Arranged mine and my non-migrant daughter's medical at Spire Aston Hospital for early August. Awaiting police check. Had an earlier request for a few bits of further info but no further queries. My Case Officer is N. I am relocating from Leicester to Melbourne...interested to know where you're heading
