  1. Hi Staceymelling, I'm in a lesbian relationship (partner is Australian) and we applied for the De Facto partner visa back in June 2015. We were granted the visa in Jan 2016 (very lucky as the wait time advised was 10-14 months) even though we've only lived together 5 months out of 1 year relationship. She was in Uk on WHV. We registered our relationship in NSW during my stay in Oz May 2015 and also spoke to migration lawyers (Immigration solutions - who were brilliant). After I was back in the UK there was a mad rush to get the application ready before the price increase due July 2015. Think you will have a high chance of getting your visa. Most important are the fact you've registered the relationship and that you've lived together more than a year (not essential but helps). Your statements and statements from friends/family helps (especially any that are Australian) and other financial evidence. Just need to show you are in a genuine relationship. Don't think you would need a migration lawyer but would recommend immigration solution lawyers (based in Sydney) if you need one. I'm due to fly out early June to finally be with her (long distance is no fun). Good luck and keep us posted!
  2. Hi R, My partner and I were in a similar boat as yourselves. I'm British and she's Australian. We met when she was in her 2nd year of her WHV when in London. We were in a relationship for a year before she had to return back to Oz. Long distance for 8 months before applying for partner visa. In that time she lived with me for only 4 months. We didn't have much financial evidence (no joint accounts, only my name at my address.) We used mainly travel/holiday evidence (paying for hotels and flights together), Stat decs from both her friends (australian) and my family and friends (British). We also registered our relationship when I visited her May 2015 (as advised by our migration lawyer) which may have helped in regards to living together issue. We applied for the 309/100 partner visa (offshore) on 24th June 2015 and received 309 visa grant on 12th January 2016. We were informed that the timeline would be between 10-14 months before getting a verdict and feel extremely lucky to receive it within 6.5 months. In regards to the financial evidence as long as you are able to explain in your statement (e.g. Being long distance, travelling, etc...) this will help, however it's good that you're looking at building more when you get to Oz. They will look at all the evidence you provide as well as the statement that you will supply about your relationship. It's also really helpful that you have sought the advice of a migration agent. Just make sure they are MARA registered. Hope this reassures you that it's possible. Good luck and all the best!
  3. Hi Jen, Am interested in some of the smaller items you mentioned (e.g. Kettle, pots, lamps, etc) Would it be possible to add pictures and prices. Thanks!
  4. Can't believe this but our 309/100 visa was granted!!! Was technically yesterday but due to my partner and I using Sydney migration lawyers, the email went to them during the night. Received email this morning! 6.5 months! Police check was 15th June 2015, Lodged application offshore 24th June 2015, Medical 23rd July 2015. Never been assigned CO nor any contact. Thank you to everyone who's contributed to the forum or answered any of my questions. Really helped with the waiting and application process. Good luck to everyone else that's waiting. Am sure it will be very soon! x
  5. Thanks for updating the table Aussiegirl! So amazing that that these grants are coming through!!!
  6. Totally relate to you GooseRenders! Being on the other side of the world from your partner is hard and stressful especially when you're being told the long process time involved. Am in the same boat. We panicked when we realised that the police checks and medical will expire within 12 months however we have been assured by our migration agent that we can extend this by 6 months when the time comes. My Police check was completed prior to application lodgement and medical over a month after being lodged. Am hoping that we won't need to. Keep your chin up! All we can do is keep busy and begin sorting out our UK affairs till the wonderful day we're told our visa is granted.
  7. Me too! However because we went through a migration agent, I have no idea if we have a CO. Hope the time flies for everyone!
