  1. Hiya folks, myself and hubby Mick arrived 7 weeks ago and are now settling in Waterloo, Sydney. Would love to meet up with other like minded folk for drinks, food and general socialising. We are both in our 40's but still act like we are in our 20's or so we like to think anyway. Our 20yr son is arriving next week for his first trial and we are hoping he will settle, so anyone with late teenage early 20's children /siblings that would be great too.
  2. We are renting in Waterloo about 5-10 tube into cbd. Great location, loads going on great pub across the street already been used loads! We Viewed loads of flats , in around this area, check out domain.com.au and realestate.com.au but we also just walked around loads of estate agents, most have viewings mid week one day and the next again on sat, if you can go on week day less people view due to work commitments and so if they'd accept you they will sometimes cancle the next viewing day. I'd advise to go with application already filled in if you think it's gonna be suitable and you thinks it's the one you want, as only one time slot of 15 min generally and everyone turns up the same time to view so sometimes there are 20 of you looking around the flats/houses ..its madness. And take photocopy your evidence, bank statements Id, visa letter, old bills, mortgage payments if you still have this goes in your favour. Job offers also good if you have one on arrival. The more you can show the better chance you will have, you can offer more month money up front but this is not always needed or taken account of. Thought we would have problems as first time to rent in Sydney but we were lucky to get first two applications we applied for and ended up great flat with pool and gym included. The prices are high but no way whew are both earning its not as bad as our wages are higher than back home. Good luck!
  3. We applied for our joint bank account in U.K. And then just went into branch to show I'd and confirm details, waited a while to get cards but was the fact the guy in the bank didn't bloody order them, the second lady did and turned up quick. We are using anz and so far so good.
  4. Thats great news! The long wait has paid off finally. Good luck
  5. I'm planning on going into Sydney office today but worried I won't have all the evidence needed. i didn't get passport stamped on arrival as this was not needed as went through electronic system with no issues, I do have my visa grant letter though so hoping that will be fine along with my boarding cards to show date of entry. ive not been offered a job yet but I will be meeting with a company I was Skype interviewed for before I head to AHPRA so hopefully they will confirm job offer?? ive not got proof of address as staying with friends and can't get rental of own until I got a job! Its all such a vicious circle!!
  6. We arrived in Sydney on 28th Sept. Staying with friends in Waterloo and looking on a daily basis for our own rental but no joy yet. Job interviews today, bank accounts been opened just waiting for our cards to arrive.
  7. This is all he emailed back .... Please be advised that you are not required to have a job offer to complete the registration requirements and also please find the attached list of documents from categories A, B, C and D for your reference. The statutory declaration form may be signed at an AHPRA office counter as AHPRA office may have staff who are Justice of Peace as well who can witness your signature. Hope this helps with your enquiry.
  8. Can anyone help me please? 1. I have heard that on arrival a new fit2work is needed as only lasts 3 months... Mine was done well over three months ago. So shall I pay for another before I leave? 2. Current NMC proof of registration also only lasts 3 months?? This again was done months ago initially shall I request new one to be sent to AHPRA? I emailed the officer at AHPRA who emailed me confirmation back in Jan 2016 and he didn't answer my questions at all he only sent me a list of what ID was needed!
  9. I am qualified district nurse here in Wales Uk for past 11 years , holding provisional AHPRA and granted 189 visa last week. we are setting the date to move around 21st September this year to Sydney. looking for employment that will suit my clinical skills the most. Would be interested to know what's opportunities are available.
  10. We have just had our 189 visa granted, we had been waiting since Jan. I have a 19 yr son, he had just finished college and has a part time job in local pub for under 20 hours a week. We provided college paperwork, and lots of recipes for clothing and flights for holidays, also stated that we pay for his car insurance and mobile phone, voting slip to show he was on Election lists for our house. They then asked for the form 47a to show dependency, ( our agent said they had never had to do that form for anyone else and she had put a few through the process with older children) we also had to send his cv and certificates from college, I also added in a letter from his biological dad stating he could not house him if he remained in the Uk as he had no spare room - they have triplets so that's wasn't a lie. thought at one stage we would not get him his visa ... But they did grant his. Best of luck it can be done !
  11. We got our visa's granted this morning.
  12. Our agent has just rung to tell us that ... WE HAVE OUR PR VISA's!!! All three of us. They were granted this morning. We had only heard from our agent last night when she told us she had emailed them to ask if there was any more info that they needed etc.. When I saw a voicemail she had left this morning I had a feeling it was the good news we needed, but can't bloody believe that it was...I'm in shock! Good luck to all you guys still waiting.
  13. I know we are thinking it's more likely my son's fault! Fingers crossed we will hear this month.
