Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Yes, he has sent you an email directly. We had applied for both Volvo & Ducati but they have asked us to confirm which 1 as we can’t have both. We haven’t replied to their email yet. We’d want to bring the Volvo & the Ducati. The Ducati is a Multistrada 1260 Pikes Peak, 2018. No I don’t have a bike licence.

Our shipping agent won’t allow us to confirm/accept their quote until we have VIP which is totally understandable. Started to apply but fell at the 1st hurdle [emoji20] They ask for supporting docs to total 100 points, before you can continue with the application, these include employment resignation, house sale, evidence of applying for Aus bank account/tax code/Medicare etc. We’ve not got ANY of those things yet as our house is just about to go on the market & we won’t officially resign until it sells. We’ve not applied for any bank accounts etc as we thought it’d just be best to do it all once we arrived. Anyone else come across this & how did you get around it?

We’re not married although we supplied all relevant docs to prove we were a family in order to get our visa. Yes, all addresses match. Thanks for replying [emoji846]

All in all sounds like more hassle than it’s worth? I read about the tinted window but thought because it was factory standard it’d be ok. I love the car, it’s perfect for the kids. Defo worth thinking about, thanks.

Thankyou for sharing your experiences. My OH thought it best to get a holiday rental closer to the suburbs we liked the look of but I was swaying more towards closer to the city. Suppose if we went to the suburb though it would also give him a better feel for travelling to & from work aswell as myself & son getting a feel for how we’d settle. We’re just desperate to get out & start the next adventure in our lives!

Myself, OH, toddler & dog will be moving to Melbourne on a PR visa. We’ve been to WA a few times & were all set to go there however jobs for my OH seem more plentiful in VIC. Unfortunately neither of us have visited before so are just researching online. We THINK we’ve chosen Frankston as the suburb that we’d like to rent longer term, however we’ll have a good rummage around when we arrive to see how it feels. When we arrive we’re thinking about finding a house closer to the CBD for approx 1 month. This allows us to be close to the city so that OH can get to potential job interviews without travelling too far & allows us to explore suburbs round about. We had initially thought about a holiday caravan/cabin park so as there were plenty of things to do literally on the doorstep for our toddler whilst my OH is out job hunting, we also won’t necessarily have a car right away either. Id appreciate hearing your experiences ..... Where did you stay when you 1st arrived, location/property type? Anything you’d do differently if you had to do it again?

After much debate, we've finally decided that Vic may be the best option for us to move to rather than WA. Reasons all due to OH job opportunities..... As we've never been to Vic before, we really have no idea where to start looking for somewhere to live. From what I've been reading online, Frankston seems to tick all the boxes so thought we'd start our search there. When we arrive we're looking for a long stay rental & though about the log cabin accommodations in Langwarrin. Thanks suzukiscottie, had a look at that thread. I didn't realise they done bikes, there isn't anything on their site, but I saw a couple of enquiries. I've dropped them an email so hopefully hear back. Did you ship your bike? If you did, would you do it again given the option? Hahaha Cal this is a very good point!!!!!! I've checked & there are KTM dealers so I'd like to think they'd be able to source any parts, & I'm pretty sure they'll know how to charge for them too lol. Had another wee rummage around & ive found 1 for sale in NSW. 1 year older & heaps more km on the clock selling for $13k. Mine has a current uk value of just over £5k ($9k)

I posted on here some time ago asking for some advice re shipping a motorbike & was given a few useful links. After seeing what was involved & reading stories, both on here & other forums, I realised the general consensus was that 9 times out of 10 it's really not worth it unless it's a particularly valuable bike or you have an emotional tie to it. We decided to just sell before we moved. However at the Isle of Man TT this year there was a group of guys around the bike admiring it. When we approached them & started talking it turned out they were Australian & had never seen the model before. We explained we'd be moving over but that we wouldn't be bringing the bike. They thought that was crazy as it's quite a rare model in Australia, in their opinion. I've had a wee look around & it appears they're right, I couldn't find any for sale in WA (or the UK). Whilst it's not a hugely expensive bike it looks like it'll be very difficult to replace. So we're back to shipping it I guess lol. ive a fair idea of what's required re shipping but we're not ready to apply for the import permit yet as we don't have much of the paperwork they request ie proof of house sale, employment resignations etc. I'm getting a couple of quotes next week from the companies we're considering using to ship our household goods (they both have companies they work with to ship vehicles) but I'm curious, have you decided it was worth shipping your bike & if so what did it roughly cost? If you had the choice would you do it again? FYI the bike we're shipping is a KTM 990 Adventure Sport

Thanks for that AJ. We keep looking through the job sites to get ideas of how many jobs are avail, like you say no too many at the moment but we're a wee while off. Gd to see they're advertising hourly rate though as majority seem to leave this out. Suppose it's to suss out the candidates 1st. Thanks Bobbi2016. He has working at heigh & confined spaces. He also has APAF, which I believe is UK EWP? Not sure if any his current tickets/licenses are relevant or if he has to apply for Aus version. We'll have to suss that out as height & confined spaces are renewable every couple of years & there's no point in him doing them if they're irrelevant. He doesn't require them in his current job. He's also considering a PLC but again we'll check out if it's worth doing here or waiting until we've moved. The hourly rates will give us abit more of a guide to work on, we'll aim for the lower & rough budget around this, thanks again to you both
