  1. Hi there, My husband is currently applying for his RRV as it looks like our citizenship applications won’t be done in time. His application is asking him to provide police checks (presumably because he has declared an old conviction) and I wanted to confirm which countries he will be required to get a police certificate for. He was convicted in 2014 (a fine for £300) and this was declared on his PR application with a UK police check. Since getting PR in May 16 and moving over in January 2017, we have spent basically all of our time in Australia with the exception of a few weeks back in the UK. As we haven’t lived in the UK since January 2017 and there are no further convictions, does he need to apply for a new police check for the UK? Also am I right in thinking that he needs to apply for an Australian police check in any case? Many thanks!
  2. We ended up applying for RRVs. Applied for citizenship in Feb this year, no movement yet and looking to go overseas end of this year. Bit annoying that VIC is taking so long!
  3. Hi all, are tests on hold at the moment in VIC due to lockdown? Just trying to gauge how long we have to wait until we hear something after submitting our applications. Applied in Feb 2021 so I was expecting to not hear anything until Feb 2022. Thanks!
  4. Hi there, My husband and I are looking to transfer our UK savings to AUD as we need the funds to buy a house here. From reading reviews and looking at the various companies, it looked like Wise was a good option for us. We tried to do an initial transfer of £40k and after getting the money to Wise, we have just received an email from them stating that the transfer has been cancelled and the money is being refunded. Our guess is that it’s something to do with them needing identity and proof of funds verification, but we never received an email from them requesting this information and I can’t see anywhere on the account where I could upload this information either. Whilst we have sent an email in to them to understand why it’s been cancelled etc., please could someone advise how the transfer process normally works? We are under a bit of time pressure to get the funds exchanged, so it’s a bit annoying to get a vague cancellation email like this. Thanks in advance!
  5. From what I’ve gathered, it should tell you which PCCs you need once you’ve completed the application. It will come up in the documents to upload section, if required
  6. Hi all, hope everyone is well! My husband and I will shortly be able to apply for citizenship (end of Jan 2021). Is there anything you would recommend we collate now in order to streamline the process as much as possible? Thank you!
  7. Hi all, Since my 189 was granted, I’ve subsequently received a new passport which now has my married name. I can’t seem to be able to update my passport number on my immi account - am I correct in thinking that this means that I need to fill out and submit form 926? Thank you!
  8. Have fun on your reccie and hopefully it's helpful! We have been here coming up to two months and are based in South Yarra, but work in Docklands. Happy to meet up and answer any questions re the logistics of moving etc as it's still pretty fresh in our minds haha. I'm 27 and my husband is 35, we are both accountants - feel free to message me if you're keen
  9. Hi all, I don't post too often as I'm definitely more of a lurker, but I thought I'd post a little update here since I personally really enjoyed reading these kinds of posts from other members when I was in the process of applying for my visa! After planning a move to Australia for a number of years, my husband and I are flying out tomorrow morning to Melbourne and we're buzzing! It's all been a bit mental the past month or so as we have not only packed up our flat and rented it out, but we've left Guernsey (where we were based) to head to England for a week and squeezed in our wedding which took place on Saturday 21 January I can safely say that planning a move to the other side of the world, along with a wedding and interviewing for jobs, is pretty hectic but everything seems to have turned out well so far!! We arrive in Melbourne on Wednesday night local time and as my husband (it still feels weird to type that!) relocated with work, we're being picked up from the airport and put up in a serviced apartment for 3 weeks. I received a job offer last Monday and we will both be working in the CBD, starting on 6 February so that gives us a little bit of time to hopefully sort out the essential bits and pieces. We haven't secured a rental yet and we're hoping to be based in either South Yarra or Prahran. Fingers crossed there'll be something nice around as our stuff is due to arrive at the end of the month/early February! Anyway, I'll post an arrival report once we've settled in a bit etc! I just wanted to share the news as well as say thanks to the members of this forum who have helped us along the way. xx
  10. Congrats, it's a really exciting moment! Best of luck with the move We fly out on the 24th, it sure comes round quickly!

  12. Best of luck with the move back
  13. Safe travels, hope it all goes smoothly
  14. Yes, been a few times! Probably not a whole day out unless you're mega into it and reading everything, but can easily do 2-3 hours there
  15. Hi all, My fiancé and I will be moving to Melbourne at the end of January 2017, we fly out a couple of days after the wedding! He is transferring with work and therefore has a job lined up, I am currently waiting to see if anything comes up with my work or just taking a gamble and looking once we have landed He will be working in Docklands. We have previously stayed in South Yarra and loved it there, but his colleagues recommended looking into Port Melbourne, which we have never been to. If anyone would like to share their opinions/experiences of these two places, or indeed recommend anywhere else for us to consider, that would be great! By way of background, we are a youngish couple (under 35) with no kids or pets. We are sporty and looking for somewhere with good amenities, a short commute and a decent social scene. Our budget is circa $600 per week. Many thanks!
