Not sure why they are doing a 400 visa first off? I work as a fibre optic engineer, I'm hoping once I get the 457 I can find a different job anyway, we'll see Its going to be 50 hours a week, 150 a week isnt to bad for a room thought it would be more to be honest

Hi guys and girls, I am currently working in the UK, but have been offered a job in Melbourne starting next month (400 visa for 6 months, then a 457) but I have a couple of questions to ask before I jump in and accept it 1. its paying 27.50 an hour for the first 6 months, and 35 an hour after that. Is that a livable wage? Its been 8 years since i did a WHV in Oz so dont really remember the cost of living, I'm a single guy and I don't really drink booze, I'm hoping to be able to live a social existence and be able to save at the same time. 2. What are good locations to be living in? I'm not too bothered if its city living or suburbia, I'd just be looking to rent one room at first, but would like to be able to go out and meet people etc. 3. What are your honest opinions of Melbourne and the surrounding areas?
