  1. We just decided on a move date as soon as we put our house up for sale. We had looked at how properties were moving in our area, and had talked at length to the estate agents, insisting they didn't mention Australia! Doree boner movers said they were flexible and could arrange pick up of our things at a few days notice and would hold goods if needs be before shipping. We were very fortunate that we had family to stay with in Oz, and if we got a quick sale ditto for UK. It did work out fine for us. The house sale finally went through and Our booked flights were 3 days later! we were honestly prepared to leave the sale with the estate agents, we had made our minds up and that was that.
  2. Thanks I'll have a look at some of them
  3. I've looked at poms in Adelaide, good tip lots and lots on there, thanks again Geoff
  4. So you think we'll get some free advice? I'll get my family in Oz to look up some local agents who l could perhaps e'mail. Thanks for the advice Geoff
  5. We've heard stories that people have been sent back to UK whilst on the very long waiting times for the non contributory visas, especially if you were to do anything classed as work, its a one way ticket back! We are undecided as yet but thanks for the replies as we can put them all together and hopefully reach the best option for us Geoff
  6. Thanks for that Chris, will have a look now
  7. Thanks for the reply, yes I've seen the costs involved, and we are not loaded, but we can get residency and after 10 years would reduce the threat of financial burden to our family because of our large initial outlay. Geoff
  8. Thanks for the quick reply I was thinking that as you can only apply for that visa onshore, how you arrived, as long as its legally, wouldn't matter. We are almost at retirement and to wait a couple of years seems waisted as we could spend the time with our family in Oz. Geoff
  9. Hi to everyone we are looking for a bit of guidance as regards aged parent visas, we are seriously concidering applying for an 864 visa. My questions are, as you have to be in Australia to apply, can you travel there on a tourist visa and without a return flight booked? It's causing a bit of friction in our house as my Wife thinks we'll get sent home! I hope someone has the answers or the experience Geoff
