Hey,
Please can someone tell me what license is best to apply for as a gasfitter, interim license or full one year license also has anyone applied and had it granted before going? we have our PR visas

hi, id wait until your here, in brisbane its a trip to the dept of mines and book a interview, 1 interview later they give you a gas licence, its very simple really, i think you have to do a set amount of gas work in the first year to maintain the licence so id hold of untill here.

if you are gonig to live in queensland make sure you have your lpg acs threre is a hell of a lot of lpg north of brisbane

good point, more lpg than nat gas. and they recognise lpg quals from the uk.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but its not that easy now, just changed recently. You cant just walk in and get a gas licence now, you have to go to TAFE and pay to do a course, All they will give you now is a 1 year interim licence. Companies wont emplopy with this as you can only dso supervised work, I think its really unfair but red tape in Queensland is a joke anyway, Us UK gasfitters are 10 times better than aussie ones. Company I work for have had 3 uk guys in past 2 weeks apply but boss cant take them on with this interim licence.

Depends where abouts, most of Brisbane and a lot of the Gold Coast are piped with NG, I dont do much LPG, maybe once a week, all depends where you work.
