Question Argh! %^$#@!BEEP wages WA! Help Please

Hi everyone, (WAGE MOTOR MECHANIC WA?)

Okay so been trying to put together SS research (enough said eh!......) well, here goes - can anyone please, please, please, please, please let me know what the wage is for a motor mechanic in WA?

I have been searching for the last 2 hours, states wages, then you click 'whatever' link it is and, guess what NOTHING *(^&*$%#)&*)*. Okay calm now.

I await the all so helpful and informative knowledge of my fellow PIOers.

Many thanks Ley x

You are probably struggling because an employee should only discuss his contract & conditions with his employer so its hard to find out what others are earning.

Try looking up the state award for mechanics which you should find somewhere on the state gov website in the employment section?.

This will give you the state minimum wage. Most people earn above award rates but finding out how much above award... thats the question?

Ditto the above. If you're on wage rather than salary your rate is affected by all sorts of things; my OH used to get extra if his clothes got oily, if his boots were wet, if he was in confined spaces etc, it's all laid out in the award, which is most likely classed as something like "Motor vehicle maintainer" but it could also be something more obscure; he came under a metal workers' award for some reason.

hi Noodle
Hope this helps please note wages can vary depending where and who you work for....
Roughly mechanics are paid $22 to $25 ph more if specialized
38 hr week
time and half for overtime
usually get clothes allowance... and you need an accountant for your tax returns and they tell you what you can claim for.... tools etc... l know you boys and your toys...
hope that helps...
visas like a 457 wants you to earn nearly 45000 a year so that or over and you would be doing ok
