Looking into going back to working for myself as i did back in the uk ,have been here comeing up 12 months and fed up working for a boss again.
Got my blue card.
Think i will need a ABM number ,can any one tell me more about this.
Also any thing else that could be helpful.

ABN ,lol, you can apply on-line its very straight forwards. You can also choose a business name and check the business register to make sure its not already taken, then simply register it. When i was starting out i found smartlicence in Brisbane a great help andthey dont charge for helping you either, well worth making an appointment to go and see them.
Outdoor furniture is what you need to be doing, told you that last week,lol, you can make me a 12 seater to be a 'show one',lol

Good luck with starting up on your own Eddie. OH in same boat also, he over working for someone again so thinking of starting on his own like he did in UK. (Although he does already have his ABN number).
Like Cal says you can apply for it online.

I am in the same process what trade are you and you will a lincence from the master builders to work for yourself

Apparently you need a BSA licence aswell as ABN. This is so that you can advertise as a bona fide carpenter. otherwise you can only charge people $1100 max per job! im finding out more on monday, but getting licenced seems to be the forward.
Yet more obstacles in the way, I was led to belive they wanted tradesmen!!!!!!

Hi i am a joiner ,furniture maker by trade, also done lots of site chippy work.
