Question Don't know where to start!!!

Hi All

My husband and i are considering moving to Oz. We've been trawling the net for weeks now and really were none the wiser!!

My questions are about work and visas!!

Firstly, I have a BA Hons in Criminology and 7 years experiance of working at different points of the CJS, with adults and young offenders. I also have experiance in family support and assesment. I am currenlty doing a 2 year MA in Social Work.
Questions - Would i be able to go to Oz on my current qualifications/experiance to work in this field or should i complete my MA in Social work first?
Where do I start with visas....i'm so confused!

Any advice info would be greatly recieved.

Many Thanks

Hiya Welcome to PIO sorry like Jaynie cant answer your questions, although your qualifications sound good.

migration agents are really good and you can phone for some free advice and they will tell you if you are eligible or not and for what visa type. Can always send my agents number to you if you like - We have our visas now and leave in December

Good luck

I don't know anything about the construction industry sorry but I was looking on seek.com.au and found a few companies in my Husbands profession were advertising to sponser on a 457 visa. We chose to go the PR route in the end but it might be worth a look.

Excellent Idea, give a couple of agents a call, they will give you some free advice, Just what ever you do don't pay for the intial assessment, do your homework with the Migration agents. Not like me who had to fire the first one! Take your time with appointing an agent as you have to trust them with you precious visa application. Also if you are going with an agent check with the PIO when you get your quote. My previous Agent wanted to charge me double the amount that my new one is, and my new one has a better reputation !!!

Hi,
What is your current or most recent job title? Can you find it on the list of occupations in demand on the australian immigration website (DIMIA) I'm sure you could find an employer to sponsor you for a 457 visa with your quals. Why not google similar employers in Oz to those you've worked for in UK and send them your CV? Good luck x

Thanks for your reply!
My current position is an Arrest Referral Worker (drugs intervention), however i have been on placement working as a Tenancy Support officer for the last 8 months. That is the trouble I'm having finding the box i fit into lol
Will give contacting employers a go, thanks again.

Just a thought I think to work in the Police, Social Services or Civil Service etc. In Australia you have to have Perminant Residancy and that might have to be for at least 2 years. Check with an Agent though. Best of luck
