Mental Health Nurses? What Does 'recommended' Mean?

I was working on a ward last week when I was looking after this man on a general ward. He was having IV antibiotics. At 2am he refused them. Iwas told that I had to hold him down and give them to him as he is 'recommended'. I was so taken aback that I forgot to ask what this means. is it the same as a section?

He did have a security guard with him all night. In the end he calmed down and I managed to persuade him to have them.

Any advice?

I've no idea, here in WA if your sectioned it's called 'on forms' or 'formed', I know that the MHA is different in each state. I would ask, and also if the MHA covers patients in a general hosptial, and if you can give the medication against their will.
