ANMC & or State registration

Hi I am hoping to migrate with my hubby under HIS 175 Visa. I am a registered nurse and want to know if i need to apply via AMNC for a skills assesement or can i just register with which ever state we end up living in.I Have searched previous threads but they all seem to relate to people needing skills assessment for thier own nursing visa.
Can anybody give advise

HI, If you are applying for partner skills for the extra 5 points, I think you have to have your skills assessed by anmc for visa purposes. Not sure if you are not claiming these points. Stay tuned, this site is a wealth of information. wendy

I would contact the anmc or the nursing board of the state your hoping to work in to ask them. I don't know the answer as we came on my skills as a nurse and therefore I had to apply to the ANMC. My guess is that you may not need the anmc assessment - but that is only a guess.

Hi,
I am not sure but i THINK that you can apply to register with the nursing board and then when you get that (approx 6 weeks) you apply to the ANMC for a MODIFIED skills assessment instead of the full one, I think for the 175 you need both and am not a 100% sure that the modified is suffice. Have you tried contacting the High Commission you can email them or phone , the number is 0906 550 8900 or London.cc@dfat.gov.au. they are not always that brilliant at answering a range of questions so you have to ask for a yes , no scenario. Also you can usually blag one free question out of an agent.
Good luck
Kate

Hi

You can email the ANMC see their website for details and they email back very quickly. I am pretty sure that if you are not using your points you can just apply to whichever state you are in. See the specific nursing boards for details as to what information is required.

had a reply from ANMC and i think the gist of it is that yes i have to register with both, but as i dont need it for a visa i can apply first with relevant state and then do a modified application with anmc
which is a cheaper.I think thats what they meant!!! moomin said the same thing so it sounds about right.
