Hi everyone,
I know that as nurses are such a friendly and supportive bunch I can ask for advice. I am a nurse who has been qualified for 15 years (!) and am looking to move the family to Melbourne. I was intending to come over on the skilled migration visa but alas as I have been on maternity leave for 9 months out of the past year, I do not meet the 20 hour per week rule.
I am now looking to coming over on a long term sponsorship visa (457?) but don't really know where to start! I am going to start the process with the Victoria Nurses Board this week but am not sure how to go about looking for sponsorship. Also is there a good chance of getting permanent residency from this visa?
I also have a predominently community background and it seems to be a lot of the sponsorship is hospital based. I have experience in Primary Care (Minor Injury/illness) but was really hoping to do Community Nursing.
I noticed that there is the Royal District Nursing Service, does anyone know anything about them and whether they sponsor overseas nurses? I was looking at their job vacancies and I fit a lot of them perfectly.
Any help and advice would be greatfully received-I need a bit of hand holding!
Lynn
