You should look under 'operations and manufacturing' section not engineering in Seek (or any other site for that matter). Machinists aren't called engineers here (except by poms).
Hi, i've a toolmaker background with CNC experience but wanted a change when i arrived here in Perth. I found no shortage of jobs with my background if i did decide to go down that route. Even having a mechanical background opened the doors to many other jobs. Where are you planning on living? That was the biggest problem i found. Mechanical/manufacturing jobs were often around the Welshpool/Kewdale area, which for me is just over an hours drive (i live in Kinross). I now work for a water filtration company installing purified water in people's homes and offices, so it gets me out and about with a company van.
Before i accepted that job i was offered a job as a cnc machinest for a furniture company, they said it was near impossible to get machinists and wanted me to name my price!

again under seek look for manufacturing/operations, then Fitter/Machinists. Think you'll find cnc work there. Also you get loads of adverts in the Perth newspaper 'TheWest'
Wednesday & Saturday's editions i believe for the jobs. I have no idea what the jobs are like in the areas you are looking at though.
Good luck. When do you plan on getting here?
