      Change Of Job

I am a personal injury lawyer and very much disillusioned with my job in the UK. I know it is not a sought after job in Oz for VISA purposes although is on the skilled list. I have a law degree and am very experienced in my work. Am I better off seeking something I don't really enjoy as a stop gap or going for something totally new? Any ideas for what someone with a law degree would be welcomed with to do?

      Hiya Copujo,

I just wanted to say welcome to the site!

My husband feels the same as you do, he would really llike to change direction completely. He has a building company here in the Uk which will stay running when we move to Oz in September. But he wants to try something new.

I suppose the best thing to do is see what there is out there?

Anyway whatever you decide to do I wish you luck

Hi. I'm a 10-yr qualified laywer recently migrated to Gold Coast (great place!). Although my qualification and work experience was what got me into Oz - I can't work here as a lawyer unless I re-qualify at a cost of around £30K and 18-months full time study!!!!! So I have pretty much decided to use this as an opportunity to have a complete change in direction - but don't know what yet. If you are considering working as a lawyer here, I would advise you to have your qualifications / work history verified by a university here - they will advise you what you need to do to re-qualify.
I guess I have to look at it (legal degree / experience) as my entry to Oz ticket - but that's all! Good luck with it all!
