Air-conditioning/refrigertion In Aus

I am hopefully very near to receiving my Visa (fingers crossed in next month or two).

I would like to hear from anyone that is in the Air-Conditioing / Refrigeration trade. How are you finding your job in Australia and did it take long to find employment?

Just can't make up my mind what part of Brisbane to head for, of course it will depend where the work is. I have a cousin in Brisbane so will probably head that way and then decide Sunshine or Gold Coast.

Any information that you may have would be welcomed

Thank you & Regards
Dal

p.s. I have mistyped the Refrigeration in the title and not sure how to amend it???

Hi Tessa
Thank you for your reply. A living down under DVD would be good, how do I go about purchasing one?

I have 2 teenage boys 14 and 16, myself and OH in our 40's - We have visited Australia and we would like to settle Sunshine Coast if possible.

Thanks for your help

Just as a suggestion, I would say maybe try settling in the Jacob's Well or perhaps the Upper Coomera area of the Gold Coast, as it is close to the M1 Motorway, and this suburb (namely Upper Coomera) is "booming" as far as new housing is concerned and the gap between Upper Coomera and Brisbane will only fill up with more and more new housing and development in the next 5 to 10 years, forming a SUPER city and I'd say these NEW houses will all need Air-conditioning installed within this time, as the summer's here are stinking hot!!!
Lots of work for a long time. You could probably even start your own business once you've investiagted these new areas.

Hi Dal

My oh is working in upper coomera as an ac engineer, found it really easy to get a job as they are crying out for people like you - don't think you will have any problem what so ever getting a job - good luck and let me know if you need any more info.

Kath

Just a quick reply to anyone considering buying the dvd's by Tessa Steven - Living Down under.
I puchased a couple of these last year and was very very disappointed.
They were totally home made with own video camera and the noise through the mike was so bad at times you could not hear what she was saying about the places.
I thought they were a waste of money and to be honest could do a better job myself, but then again I am a photographer and I was critical of what I was watching and trying to hear.

Sorry Tessa if you read this................... I wish now I had sent them back to you instead of binning them, still a good way to make some money eh?

A/C-TRA or VETASSES

Hi all. Have been reading all of your comments with great interest. My husband is also an A/C Engineer. We have our visas (Hoorah!) and are hoping to head out in October.

Just one question for those already working out there. When we applied for our visas, we had to have the skills assessed using the TRA, however, do we also need to get them assessed under the Vetasses??

Its all a bit confusing but we don't want to arrive and then find that he has to 'convert' them and is unable to start work until this has been done.

We would be very grateful if anyone can answer this one.

Regards, The Johnos
